( but the million dollar question is can your Z50 do 0 to 6.0 in 2.9 seconds....all while having a hot coffe in your backpack!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

Well, that depends. It depends on how fast your bike will go from 0 to 60 while towing an old minibike with a scared $***less middle aged man on it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

In all seriousness though, I've pretty well resigned to just paying what is at the pumps. I don't see where I have much of a choice. I don't have mass transit available for what I do, and I believe even mass transit systems will have to increase their costs as fuel prices go up. What's a guy to do?!

I hear ya. Unless I walk or run to work, there is nothing anyone can do.

I know everything thinks that fuel cells are/is the way to go but our fuel cell division, which makes fuel cells for NASA, schools, gov buildings etc has gone through about 5 layoffs since no one wants them.

We even have discounts at work (UTC- stock UTX) if we would like one. Lots of people signed up, nothing came about it.

We just built a new house this past year and had a geo-thermal heating/cooling system installed. A little bit of a smack initially but our highest electric bill has been $90.00. The house is 2000sf and is all electric. We also put in the best insulation we could afford and 1" of ridgid foam all around the exterior.

My soccer mom (wife) drives a 05 WRX STI, sort of out of character, but still not ultra efficient at ~ 18 to 23 ish mpg depending on how many lowered Hondas happen up. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

( home heat in our area will be over $2.00 per gallon without a problem. It was $1.65 to $1.85 last year. )

Bought 250 gallons yesterday for $2.04 /gal. The local dealer is selling prepaid stuff for winter delivery for $2.06. I am slowly filling my 1000 gallon underground tank now before the price gets much higher.

that is nuts! I switched to NG and when I filled my oil tank for the last time in Jan 2001 I paid less then a $1.00!!!

/forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I'm not even gonna post how many GALLONS per MILE my 5.9l dodge truck gets. The gmc yukon ain't that much better either... ( but they both pull a loaded trailer quite nicely! )

Our two VW TDIs have averaged 46-49 miles per gallon for the last eight years now and the three KTM thumpers all get about 50-55 depending on how far you twist the throttle.

The Kubotas all get about two hours per gallon or better.

Soundguy, that's something that puzzles me about the newer Dodge diesels. I have an old '94 Dodge 5.9L CTD 2WD with stick shift that has gotten 26MPG from time to time on trips and regularly gets 22 to 24MPG running around town. Towing about 6000# on the interstate it reliably gets 18MPG. WHAT HAPPENED???

Did the Gov't impose some kind of emission controls that screwed up the mileage? Or did the push to hotrod the CTD drive the design away from economy?

Luckily the old girl only has 35000 miles on her. If I can keep the rust at bay, I've got a good tow vehicle for another 10 years. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
