Does it matter what weight oil is run in my Ford 640?

I want to move from 10-30 to 10-40 for the summer...

They are not too fussy. I run whatever I can find cheapest and have used 10w-30, 10w-40, and 15w-40. My diesels always get the 15w-40, but the gas ones like yours are a little more forgiving. Regular changes are important, but these days, there is not too much difference between brands.

the 00/01 series were good engines and usually held good oil pressure.

probably anything in a 10-30, 10-40, 15-40, 20-50 30w, or 40w will be ok, climate depending, and depending on what your oil pressure says.

Thanks soundguy. I've always ran 10-W40 in my 841 but I never was certain this was the correct weight.

these oldies are usually just happy to have clean oil!
