I'm going to post this on a few boards, so forgive me if you've seen this on another discussion... I bought a TRAC-VAC bagger with a Honda motor on it. The motor has a safety feature that will kill the motor if the oil level is low. When I operate down some of my slopes, the motor kills. When I move up the hills, it is fine. The oil level is full. I will call Honda on this too, but has anybody run into this? Is it really an oil safety issue when the motor is going downhill, or is it just that the sensor isn't noticing the oil because it is pooling away from the sensor?

Are you sure its the oil safety kill? I have many Honda engines and have yet to have that sensor kill the ignition circuit. I've forgotten if it grounds it or opens it. It's logical that it is the culprit.

It sounds like the oil isn't reaching the sensor when on a slope. I don't think there's much you can do about it except bypass the sensor. It's no big deal anyway as long as you check the oil from time to time.

Now if it was a generator that runs continuous, it would be an issue. But then again, you wouldn't be having this problem, since the engine would be sitting level.

I have the same problem on my Troy-Bilt tiller with a Honda engine. I've been thinking about disconnecting the switch.

My friend also has a Honda engine on his lawn sprayer. He has the same problem. On his there is a wire that comes out of the crankcade that leads to the kill switch. On his he just unplugged it and checks the oil weekly
