I have a Yanmar YM2000 tractor. After engine warmup I notice an oil leak which appears to be coming from around the oil sender switch.

Is the remedy to replace this switch? If so, is there a special procedure to do this? Is a replacement switch available?

It is more than likely leaking where the 2 parts of the switch are put together. I took mine to NAPA and they matched it to another one. They said there was only 2 kinds, One for a light and one for a gauge. It stopped my leak.

Carquest part #PS138 is a match for your leaking sensor

My 1700 had a leak on the sender, I thought it wasn't tight.. tightened it.. cracked it.. got anohter one.. thread taped it for piece of mind, and didn't worry about it after that.

A bit of advice on installing an oil pressure sender. Using thread tape is not generally advisable. If a piece were to get loose in the oil system, it could easily plug a small oil passage and starve a bearing. Try using some thread sealer like plumbers use - I think I got some locktite. The mechanics here at Mack Trucks use it exclusively for these types of applications.

Actually that is what i did, I used the liquid tape sealer. I never use the real tape anymore, I'm spoiled on the liquid sealer.. it works great. The grey stuff for gasline is pretty decent as well.

I probably should have specified liquid tape.. i just get into the habit of saying 'taping it'. etc.

thanks for the reminder!
