oil slobbering pig?

Just curious how common it is for Kubota engines to sweat oil? /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I've seen several used units that have a fair amount of seepage and maintain a few Kubota engines at work that do the same. It's not enough to drip, just sweating from several gaskets as if they're made out of candle wicks. Anyway, some feedback would be interesting. Many thanks: Glenn

Post up a couple of pictures so we can get an idea of what you are posting about.

I don't have any oil seepage and my unit is three years old.

I've been using Kubota's sence April 1977, and i've never seen an oil seepage on any.

I have to agree with Gil! I have owned and used Kubotas since 1975 and have never seen what you described.

Well Glen, I am not sure I would call an oil film "not enough to drip" an "oil slobbering pig". Maybe it is the maintenance the engines are receiving. Guess I have been lucky because mine is as clean as the day I got it and has 850 hours on the meter.

Just curious as to what oil you use? Both my Botas are so tight there is not even the ususal dust that sticks on gasket seams. J

Are you sore it's not the person who is replacing the oil? Mine is over 3 years and no seeps.

I've not a drop after 2 years & 60 hours.

I used to have an L245 but never saw it leak a drop. Engine always looked clean and dry.

The slobering pig thing, was to get your attention and to have a bit of fun with ya. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif It's just sweating. I use 15w40 in Shell or Chevron/Delo. Don't think it's the oil. I maintain Deutz, Cummins, Detroit, Perkins and Kubota. Really, I never paid much attention to it until I looked at a 320hr tractor that had a lot of oil film on it. It could easily have been spilled during oil changes on it though. The 905's that I maintain do have 4,000 hrs+, but have been doing it for quite awhile. Thanks for the feedback.
