Just watched it. Pretty scary stuff. I sure hope it never happens but it does seem to be going in that direction. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Didn't see this movie, but as a preview, is anyone old enough to remember the supposed gas shortage of 72? Lines for gas 2-3 blocks long, people punching and shooting others, and general chaois. All that to get gas about $1.00 per gallon back then.

Make no mistake, the oil companies are ruthless and don't anymore care about America, or Americans, than they care about a stray dog!! All they care about is MONEY and they'll do ANYTHING to get it, even FALSELY inflating oil and gas prices!!

They'll poison the enviornment wherever they have to and destroy people's lives without so much as a second thought. Yeah, the concept of this movie can happen...easily!!

Yes, we watched. I thought it was a pretty good movie. Seemed real enough.
I remember, kinda, the gas lines, stations running out. I was too young actually to know the ins and outs though.

Yes a Rant, but I have to agree, profit is king.

I thought it was 1974 instead of '72. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I bought a new little Winnebago in '73; only had a 40 gallon gas tank, but some stations limited you to 10 gallons at a time in my area, so had to go to 2 or 3 stations to fill up. However, when we went from Dallas to West Virginia, I had no problem with filling up along the way, except for the high prices.

I was pumping gas a $3.00 a pop to customers at my Dad's gas station. I was about 15. Boy it would get ugly quick sometimes. Almost got squashed by a big old fat guy thou. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Told me he squash me if I didn't fill up his car. Of course being young and dumb I told him if he thought he could go for it. My Dad wasn't very happy about that but he had my back. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif (Dad's are cool.) We'd pump for three hours a day and I'd never go inside. My pockets would be full of money. Glad it was back then and not now. We don't know how lucky we are with what we have until we lose it.

I started to watch it, but couldn't take it after about 20 minutes and changed the channel. It seemed a bit over the top to me. It seemed a bit too politically motivated for my taste. I thought it was going to be a movie for entertainment, not propaganda. I've just seen and read too much lately about how bad Americans are. I have too many friends in the military who put their lives on the line every day for us to enjoy what we have. This false documentary style reminded me a bit too much of another "documentary" movie that played last year. I said a prayer for our troops, felt thankful for our wonderful nation, and changed the channel to anything else that was on.

Amen, Dargo.

My thoughts exactly. The premise and make-up of the movie smacks of mikey "the seditious trader" moore. I was surprised not to see his name in the credits. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It was another prime entry in the "blame America first" crowd's resume. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
