Oil type for small engine

The only reason the JD dealer says to not run synthetic is because he knows you won't be buying it from him. The JD dealer only recommends what makes him money. He wants a monopoly on what you buy for your John Deere.

I run my 2010 X728SE with the Kawasaki V-Twin for 5 hrs and changed it over to AMSOIL HDD 5W-30 and AMSOIL oil Filter. Runs perfect, not a drop of oil used in about 90 hrs, 2 yrs on same oil. The only reason they say to change oil once a year is so they can sell you more oil. They make the most money on parts and service.

Matters the most for "brass monkey" type of Cold, but I've always liked Synth for Low Temperature performance.

I don't know that particular motor, but I find that many small engine starters are just torquey enough for the job. For winter use, the slight cost adder needed to put a decent synth into a small engine sump is a no-brainer, IMO.

I've run nothing but synthetic in all my engines, large and small after the first oil change. Since I don't use the small engines that much I change the oil every 3-4 years and have never had any issues whatsoever.

I have T300 cab, I'm using synthetic oil with wix filter since i bought it. It is great oil because when engine run at high speed then oil keep it smoothly and cool.
Otherwise, you can use caltex oil for better performance.

If the tractor is new, let it break in first. At the next change or two, go with your favorite synthetic. No problem.

Ya that is true, new tractor need look-after in terms of break oil and other parts.
