The can trick seems to be the standard.... I am surprised that no one has made a soft cap out of a high temperature/heat resistant material. If they put a ring on it that attached to the muffler you could just pop it on and off where it could hang.... Just a thought, but a maxwell house coffee can works for me...

A can is just too easy. If you make a product for a problem that has a quick easy solution, nobody will buy it. I guess it didn't rain in Japan back when these tractors were made (or the tractors were all stored inside)--or else they would have made a U in the exhaust at the top so that it is pointing down, not up. Mine has a little angle, but in a hard rain water can still get in--most of the time it doesn't matter, because it lives under the house (except when a hurricane is coming).
