2 1/2 acres with pond. Sand maint, rock , and snow plowing along with mowing 1 1/2 acres lawn and 1 Acre field!

Lots of projects for FEL, nothing super heavy!

I have looked at New Holland TZ-25, Jonh Deere 2305, Massey Furguson GC2300 all with 60" Belly Mower and FEL!
All three at around $13,800 and Kubota BX2350 at 12,750.

I was leaning toward NH TZ-25 with % for 60 months! But the Massey GC2300 has 0 % for 60 and it looks like a weel built Tractor!

What do you guys think?

thanks,

Dick

What do I think? I think that's kind of like asking whether you should buy a Ford, Dodge, or Chevrolet pickup.:D They're all good and will all do the job, so then we're down to personal preference. Which tractor do you like best? Or which dealer do you like best? Drive all 3 a little bit and buy the one that's most comfortable.

I would seriously look at the dealers. Buy from the one you are most comfortable with. Sounds like this is your first tractor so look at thing like tractor transport if maint is needed ect. Also get everything in writing.

One other thing is do your research on tires and make them let you take it for a test drive. In sand I would stay away from turfs and R1's and get R1's/ags. I would also stay away from the belly mower. It will really get you stuck if the tractor does get stuck and bottom out. I would go with a 3 point rear discharge 5' finish mower.

Also where do you live Rick? Your area will make some some difference on what type of setup you will need on all of these tractors. The dealer will tell you what you want to hear but to get the truth talk to locals with tractors like you. My dealer tries to push R4's because they look good and that is what he stocks. R4's will not do the job on my 28HP 4 wheel drive in the snows we get. I had to go back to R1's or Ags.

I agree with Bird. You have to drive them all and see which one you like best. Surely they do not all have the exact same features...figure out their differences and pick the one that has what you think suits you best...

It is perhaps even more important to drive all the Scuts that you are interested in since they are perhaps the most closely matched of any class of tractors. Feel, comfort, loader controls, noise levels, attachment selection, and design are all important. It could come down to which grass collection system you like the best for example. The JD2305 is slightly larger than the rest, so that might matter too. All are good tractors, and will do similar tasks. Price the attahments like mmm, loader, etc. that you want, or might want to add in the future too since you may find a bigger difference there than you expect.

Welcome to TBN :D! IMHO I believe that you are looking at the correct size tractors and I agee with all the previous posts. Try out the tractors listed and get a feel for the dealerships. A good dealer will save you money in the long run. There have been many, many posts about tires here at TBN. It comes down to primary use and your ground. As to tractors is mowing is your primary task I would go with a lighter tractor; if dirt ground/engaging work work is your primary task I would go with a heavier tractor. I would weight my tires or at least get some weight off your rear end to help balance the tractor. regardless of the amount of FEL work. Give us more information about your location and property. If you are mowing on slopes I would definitely weight my tires. If ground clearance could be an issue I would stay away from a mid-mount mower. If you are cutting that 1A field can a finishing mower handle the vegetation you intend to cut? Keep us in the loop and keep the posts coming. Jay :)

Jay,

Yes it will handle it if I get to it SOON:) I am probably going with New Holland! Both the Massey and the NEW Holland are both good dealers! The Massey and the New Holland
New Holland has exactly the setup I want. The Massey dealer has to order the loader. The 0 % financing for 60 months is hard to beat!

Jay,
I bumped send key too soon. I have 1/2 Acre finished flat lawn, I acre with pond and sloped hills around pond, 1 acre field (not grown up yet but will be soon ) I want loader for Sand around beach maint, Stone around pound (finish work and maint, snow plowing 100 ft double driveway and turn around and light mulch hauling! Both tractors weigh about the same 1300 (even the kubota which surprised me)
