Yes sir, I use a biocide along with power service as well. The bottom of my containers have what I would call small brown dirt particles. Which may well be.
I've read once in a forum never to fuel up when a tanker is servicing the in ground tanks, as it stirs up all the crud. So I do abide by that as well.

Don't remember which TBN thread right now, but I came across a discussion about Asphaltenes (sp?) - apparently they are particulates that can form spontaneously in diesel under certain conditions. Wiki talks about the impact on upstream production, but the (limited) impression I have is that they can affect end-users too.

Could just be dirt in supply tanks, but if that's the case, I'd consider another source.... even a fairly basic station-pump filter should not be allowing visible chunks to pass.
