Are you planning on using it on the golf course, or is this for personal use only?

/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gifYES /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

It is going north to the golf course initially, then to my farm.

Congrats Dave. I did a dealer search on their site and was surprised to find there is a dealer only 30 miles from me. May have to check them out when I'm in the market.

Dave,

Congrats! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif The look like a pretty heavy-duty unit. I believe they are based on the older Ford designs.

The Lantracs (now named Farmtrac) are not based on the Ford design---these are built in South Korea, have more bells and whisles, with 4 cylinder Mitsibishi diesel engines in both the 300 and 360 models.
It can be confusing since LongAgri is changing all of their tractors names to Farmtrac and standardizing the colors to the Ford design Farmtrac blue and have discontinued the Landtrac purple color. In fact the company name will gradually change to Farmtrac.
Since Escorts in India bought Long , there have been and continue to be many positive changes ---name and color standardization are just two ----they are strong financially, and are taking a very aggressive approach in the market, with a lot more advertizing and new product development.
It is a company and tractor line that bears watching---they intend to be a major player in the compact and utility tractor market, and they have the resources and products to do it.

Congratulations Dave

I didn't think you would ever buy either. Looks like a good machine. Long has been around a Long time and have a good price/value reputation. As far as color the local Long dealer appears to have a few different colors and some sure look Blue to me. Let us know. Have fun /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Hi Garry,

You and the funbuggy are welcome to come up and enjoy a day of golf - part of U.P. hospitality.

I am also making sure that the tractor seller & his wife are being treated to a good meal. Though we do not open until Friday, he is bringing up the tractor on Thursday. I hope we have the facilities back on line by then /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Hi John,

I actually am only half a yooper. All my relatives live in Menominee County, MI. I live in Green Bay because it is as far north as I can get and still have all the facilities of a city, have a job, but close enough to enjoy the country.

Hi Bill,

The parents own a golf course in the U.P. We have owned and opperated it for 26 years. It came with a Farmall H and then we traded that in for a SC Case, and then a 950 JD with loader. We have enough specialized equipment up there for a near full time mechanic to keep it all running.

Hi Doug,

The sale went off without a hitch.

The seller showed up. Everything looked as described, he even had the service manual, parts manuals, many which were never taken out of the plastic wrapper.

The tractor cannot be distinguished from brand new. The tractor is loaded with standard features including a 7 pin electrical trailer hook up.

Do not take an ebay auction lightly though. This seller had outstanding feedback. His emails were prompt and informative. He treated me right, and I treated him right - a real win/win situation for all.

I am very happy for you Dave. You got a great deal and I think, a great tractor. Is it royal blue, or purple. I think their purple was a cool looking color. Rich looking. Keep us apprised of your progress and of course, more pics. John

Hi John,

The tractor is a 300 series and is BLUE.

I like it so much more than the Branson I tried out a few weeks earlier. Everything is layed out nicely and is intuitive. The gear shifter is up by the steering wheel, giving me more leg room.

I do wish that the seat would go back a few inches further, but I can live with what is there.

It's perfect for my tractor! And I never hit my head on the usual things taller people do. Short people DO have a reason to live!! John

I do wish that the seat would go back a few inches further...

Dave,

That is a nice looking setup!

I think I remember someone making a simple modification to their seat so it would slide back further. If I remember right, it was fairly simple and involved making a steel transition piece from angle or flat strap.

Not sure if this would work for you or not. The transition piece was drilled to bolt to the slide mechanism, and new holes were drilled in the transition piece to position the seat further back. The seat would then not go as far forward as it used to, but that would not be a problem unless your tractor will have multiple users...i.e. the wife...

Hi Henro,

The seat will move so far forward, that the seat almost touches the steering wheel /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif!

The seat bottoms out on the gas tank which is nicely located behind the seat and not over the hood.
