OK, Let\'s Hear Those Snow Reports!!

I hope everyone's OK. How about it? What works and what doesn't work plowing or blowing snow? Anybody using a 54" front blade? How about the blowers and throwers? Four wheel vs. two wheel? Weights?

Re: OK, Let\'s Hear Those Snow Reports!!

Bloomington, Indiana received 5 inches of snow

Used an angled Midwest 5 foot rear grader blade on my JD 2210 to clear a 475 foot long stone drive.

Turned the blade to face away from the tractor and set my top link to tilt the top of the blade out over the lower cutting edge so I wouldn't dig the blade into the driveway while driving backward to push the snow.

The snow rolled perfectly up onto the blade and off to one side. Gotta get my rear light installed to make the job easier in the dark as was the case today at 5:00 am.

335 & 42" thrower. We only got about 5" but it was dense. Cleared the 40X40 apron, 350 foot drive, second 48X30 apron and 75 foot drive in about 40 minutes. Hard to beat a thrower/blower - do it once, do it right. 2210, 210FEL & 5' RB at the ready, but not needed this morning.

Indianapolis IN 8 inches, with 2-3 feet snow drifts. My X595 never hiccuped pushing those babies out of the way!

The "rubber-edge" (stall mat) really does a nice job on the blade!

Got about 7". Did my 250' drive, 6 neighbors 100 to 300' drives and a 3/8 mile gravel road. Took 2 hours with my 6 1/2' FEL mounted snow blade. Click Here Maybe I should go back to using a FEL bucket and rear blade so I can get more seat time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Also ran my JD 46" Snowthrower. Sure does make quick work of walks and them dam circular drives. Click Here

Re: OK, Let\'s Hear Those Snow Reports!!

6-8 inches fresh stuff here, on top of the 2-3 feet (yup, feet!)we already had. The constant wind last night left me with several 12-18 inch high drifts of densely packed snow. Now that I have a base snow layer down, the combo of front-mount blower and rear blade is very efficient.

Re: OK, Let\'s Hear Those Snow Reports!!

Liberty, IN had about 8".
Finally got to use my 2210, cab & 47 snowblower together.
I enjoyed moving snow again. I worked with it about 3 hours last night & 2 1/2 hours today. Yesterday I others advice & added a rubber cutting edge to the 54" front blade for the 2210 & the 72" rear blade on my 4710. I used the 54" blade today for some touchup on my asphalt drive & did a gravel drive. I was very surprised on how well it worked. I did not use the 4710. It it just for backup to the 2210 or for very large snow falls.
I did get to put the rubber edge on the rear blade to a small test yesterday. There was about 1" of snow on the ground as I finished up installing the cutting edge on it. I made a couple of of passes on my driveway before I put it away. It did a good job also.

Re: OK, Let\'s Hear Those Snow Reports!!

about a foot in north western mass. the old 750 did fine in the snow that was not plowed by the city (side walk in front of the house and a 4' retaining wall it tends to have a lot of snow piled up sidewalk is right next to the wall and street ) but i think when i put more water and antifreeze in the rear tires she'll do fine /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: OK, Let\'s Hear Those Snow Reports!!

Got about 3-4" and a lot of sleet. JD 4210 FEL and 6' Land Pride BB, all I needed for about 3000' of driveway (mine, neighbors, and common driveway). When the snow is about 4-6" I pull the blade. Any higher and I turn it around and push it. All driveway is paved (asphalt or chip&tar), so no need to use BB "backwards".
