Please take a look at the next few pictures and see if you can tell me what I am doing wrong. I am trying to use my new quick hitch with a Land Pride 1560 finish mower. When I try to lift the mower the top hook just sides out. This is a pic of how it sits on the ground
Thanks

AND Finally a pic of one of the adapter pins that came with the quick hitch.....not sure if I should be using it....OH and I also go the wishbone looking adapter but don't see how I would use it in this application either.
Thanks

I know I use the bushings on the pins of my impliments when used with the quick hitch. I don't know if the slack caused by not using them on the lower pins would cause your problem or not /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Yea I thought about the adapter pins.....but if you take a look at the picture of the lower connections you will see that the adapters will not work, since the connection is not made with the standard bolt on attachment pin but with a push thru hitch pin.

I believe the problem is the swinging top hitch attachment on the mower. My quick hitch has a setup similiar to what you show but it also has a pair of metal straps in addition to the "U" type top hokup that yours has. It was an optional piece that allow you to pin top link attachments like your mower has. The setup you are using is mostly (if not only) for attachments with fixed top pins.

Ok the mower has a drooping type top link connection so if the rear of the mower goes up, the toplink can droop. Your quick attach prevents the droop from happening so it will kick the link out of the open hook on top.

Simple story, the 3 pt setup on that mower can't work properly with a quick hitch like you have.

Not true: I have used several implements with similar setups with my Quick Hitch. You just need the adapter available at any tractor dealer. Here is a quote from Worksavers site "Some 3-point equipment will not accept a top link hook as pictured on the QH-101 quick hitch. The QH-101 provides a special floating top link bracket that allows you to still use the quick hitch to pick up the implement. The floating top link bracket requires manual insertion of pins. "

Also the bushings shown in a earlier post do not contribute to this problem. They are designed to prevent wear of the 3 pt pins. they can not be used in this case without cutting them down since they are too long. I wouldn't worry too much about the wear. I'll try and find a picture of the "floating top link bracket" It is very simple and could easily be made.
