I once did a favor for a woman that set me back $500 of my cash. She promised to come in the next AM but you know the drill.
God bless American but she failed to show in small claims court so I attached her mobile home trailer. Then it slipped my mind.

Until July 3rd of a number of years later when an hour before her sale closing they discovered the lien. They wanted me to stay late and work late while they "ran over a check". I suggested they "walk over and carry the cash" 'cuz I was leaving in 20 minutes.

Oh, they made it and told me they were not happy and would nver do business with me again. I thanked them and said "me neither" and off they went.

The same story in life told countless times forward. Some get it, some don't.

Man, Jeremy, w/ his response, you just put my "Blood Pressure, in 'overdrive' "! I'm now convinced, this guy is a POS! I'd put the thing back together as is, place it in a fenced impound lot, with a tarp over it, send a register letter, stating your storage rates. I'd ask the MF to cancel their parts offer, and say "Come an get it, before the storage charges surpass the tractors value, with cash! I'd sleep well.......~Scotty

I've had my own little business for the last 30 years and just knew this is how the customer would react. Some segment of consumers just feel like the 'squeaky wheel' will always get the grease and then are unhappy when they get it if the grease isn't synthetic. I think Jeremy and MF went too far for an out of warranty under maintained tractor. Now the standard has been set and documented on the internet and I will expect the same if I buy an MF.

I do wish Jeremy was my dealer though.

Well i just got off the phone with the customer and i hope nobody took the bet with blueriver or he will be eating steak tonight. Customer was still not happy make a few more rude comments and said he will not be back after he gets his tractor.(didnt figure he would anyhow). He knows he has to pay the labor and said he would so we are ordering the parts now. Now im just ready to get it fixed, get it back to the customer and get back to buisness at hand. Thanks again to all that post and the great comments toward me. TBN is the best site ive been on and look forward to many more years of advice and opionions from fellow posters and friends.

Another fine example of: No good deed goes unpunished. I believe your reputation is still solid.

I wouldn't worry about taking a check. I think in most (if not all) states stopping payment on a check after work is done to get back a vehicle will get you in real trouble. Some states will allow the shop to reposes the tractor while others it's a felony. Writing a check on an account with known insufficient funds will also land him into hot water.

If the owner is smart he'll pay for the work done and hopefully learn something. I doubt he'll ever understand what MF did for him or you did, that's too bad. Even if he can't be honest with you maybe he'll be honest with himself and realize that he did something wrong and not do it again. Since thanks to his actions he now has to go to a different dealer to get repair work done or return to you after saying he wouldn't and if he is so stubborn not to admit to anything I'm guessing he would drive 100 miles out of his way to prove his point.

.

stoping payment on a check in louisiana is consider theft and if over $500 which this bill should be 4 times that would be a felony.

and i would charge storage and in thirty days if not paid for i would put a machincs lien on it and thiry days after that sell it

why didnt he file an insurance claim he would only be out the deductible because if its financed it has insurance on it to cover this stuff it should never had been a waranty issue.

Wow! Whodat! Not to side track this issue, but stopping payment on a check is Theft, or a felony? That seems pretty harsh! ~S

Picture someone going to the grocery store, buying $1,000+ worth of groceries by check, then going home and thru online banking putting a stop payment on the check. What else would you call that other than theft?

Dcyrilc- I really don't want to 'hijack' this thread, but I think there are reasons for 'stop-payment' at times.........not that I ever recall doing it....! ~S

I once had a lady write me a check for a repair job on her car. She was the type who disputed everything done to her car even after I carefully explained it all to her and had her sign the estimate for repair. She took her car and left and I took her check straight to her bank and cashed it. As I left, she pulled into the lot, spotted me, and began to give me dirty looks because I had beat her to the bank. Great satisfaction! Shows how devious people can be.
