Don,

It's good to see you posting again.

Your pictures are impressive - with all that destruction its good to hear you and your family got through it ok.

Hey Don glad to hear u made it through ok. I made it out with minimal damage to some shingles, lost an old shed that ended up in my pond that now have to fish out and throw away, lost some fence boards, lotsa branches down gotta throw away when it dries up enough, some poles on the pole barn were shifted from banging panels no roof yet the worst part is no power like Don till the 19th. Which mean no water but my girlfriends house has everything but cable so I can get showers. I have not gotten off the tractor or put the chainsaw down for 4 days now. Hope all others in Florida faired well also

Well, it turns out that the electric utility's estimate of no power until the 19th was something they told everyone who called, regardless of where they lived. So much for the claim that they were preparing accurate assessments for each neighborhood /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif.

No complaint, however, because we got ours back about 5 PM Monday, about 2-1/2 hours ago as I write this. Cable internet followed about an hour later; guess it depends on electric.

I had better never hear anyone say anything disparaging about our friends from North of the border -- it was crews from Hydro Quebec who restored our power! Thank you, and if you ever get a severeice storm or something and need our help, I'm sure it will be extended.

Anyway, I'm back, pending a hot shower for the first time in 10 days /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif. It's going to take me a while to catch up with all the TBN threads. The tractor dealer called about 7:30 this morning to tell me my 300 hour service was complete and he was going to deliver the tractor, but he never made it today -- or else he delivered it to the wrong place. I'll call him in the morning and find out what's going on. I'm going to need it for the cleanup...

Don they are still working on poles around my house that were downed in the first storm. We loose power almost every day but luckly for not long at a time

Was out shopping on Saturday and saw 20 identical bucket trucks fueling up at the gas station just off 495. They were from what ever the electric company is in New Brunswick Canada. I'd assumed they were headed to FL...

When we had a bad ice storm several years ago I saw trucks from as far away as Georgia. I guess its common practice in the industry to help each other out during disasters...

Glad to hear that things are starting to return to normal. I've got some friends in Geneva who have a yard full of trees to take care of but are otherwise unscathed.
