IT Is a FMC SIDEWINDER, bing or goggle clutch plates even on amazon and ebay. Parts diagram, I think they sold off and became Bush Hog. I used bush hog blades I found at an auction new in box for $20.
well had the ole mower out, ran fine for about 4 hours then finally found a bush/stump that was a bit much.
Broke the U joint/clutch yoke. The initial break was quite dramatic, pieces flinging! safety shield got beat up, then the shaft fell down and just turned around harmlessly till i got the pto disengaged.
Search now on for a replacement! likely easier to find a whole new slip clutch?
probably easier to find a whole new shaft with a slip clutch on it. I have seen some for around 200-300 dollars for the complete shaft and slip clutch. Just need to figure out what length to get
That is an old FMC sidewinder, parts all over the place. I need some clutch plates for mine, just moved it from and old ford 3000 diesel with probable 35hp to my new Kubota M7060 and we've been out cutting pine saplings anything that we can back over. Found best price from Jensales.com mainly cheaper S&H. Just fix it, since you'll be tearing it down put in some new clutch's. That unit is 50+ years old.
Upon rebuilding mine, new clutch plates, your yoke connects to end of gearbox input shaft to keep the clutch centered, this is slip fit, it could have been rusted and kept the clutch from slipping. I've cleaned the rust and clutch material off the three plates and will be putting back into service tomorrow and post the results after another session of pine tree removal.
