Couldnt you just buy a new top link and grind off the extra width on the ball for the top link. My grandpa did this to his top link when he was using my arena drag in his arenas a few years ago and it worked just fine.

Very nice tractor! I am a HUGE fan of the Old Allis-Chalmers. My grandfather and uncles used them on their dairy farm. Great tractors.

You may want to try the Antique Tractors Forum (http://antiquetractorsforum.com/). There are a lot of very people who know a great deal about the 'old iron' over there.

So here's a better picture of the setup:

You can see the lift arms hanging down to the ground because Ive removed the leveling arms, which normally attach to arms on that rotating axle directly behind/under the seat.

Right below the PTO shaft you can see the bracket ive been talking about. After taking a second look it is definitely too low to use as a top link bracket, and also not far enough back.

My biggest question now is - how do get a top link bracket somewhere on there without replacing the whole hitch setup, which I dont want to do. My current inclination is to find some sort of bracket to fit around the rotating life axle thing? Which I think is what this does:

However, that's specifically for a AC Model WD, so Im not sure if it would fit around that part on my tractor.

Anyone have any other tips on how to accomplish this? Or is buying one these my best option?

It looks to me like the only place to hook up the top link is to the pipe that the seat's back braces go around. I wish my memory were better about that Monkey Ward 3PH for the AC WD45. I'll do some searching but no guarantees.

Back in those days.....Allis Chalmers didn't have a 3 point hitch. Nor did IH or Case, or John Deere, etc. The ONLY tractors with a three point were Ford and Massey.....and that's one reason they were so popular for utility tractors. :thumbsup:

Most implements for tractors (other than Ford and Massey) were pull-type (on wheels), semi mounted, two-point or otherwise mounted implements. These set-ups didn't have a top link. Some aftermarket three point hitch kits are available for these tractors.

That looks like a nice hitch, but im really trying to find a way to use a top link without having to buy a brand new hitch - since the other parts of my hitch work fine.

just weld some plates on to the round rod that runs across the tractor under the and cut some wholes in to it that is what i had to do to a 240 ih.

Yea I have a feeling thats probably what Ill have to do if I cant find a pre-fab part that attaches to that rod.

Yes, I know. The point of the link was that now you have an idea about how the hitch is supposed to work and the attachment place for the top link.

Maybe contacting the manufacturer can help you get the missing parts or at least the parts that need to be welded on.

I bought a SSQA for my Kubota LA403 loader from Washburn. Good people to deal with, even if they didn't send me the required nuts and washers for my application.
They answered emails promptly and shipped fast.
