You think?

This place is 5 miles up the road where farmland transitions to forest. My site would never be as gorgeous but I'll bet he's spent far more than his asking price to get to what he has there.

He could get a nice piece on Lake Michigan sunset coast for 2-3 million, invest the other 3 million at 5% and have $150,000 a year to live on and never touch the principle.

Another invasive which came over from Europe was the common earthworm. They had been extinct throughout most of North America since the glaciers, but we brought them across with trees and other plants.

People who buy the pictured place or similar don't have to ask how much things cost, they just buy it.

Best example I can think of is the equestrian center at the midpoint of Lakeville Hwy SE of Petaluma. A huge indoor riding exhibition hall, larger than a Walmart. Boarding stables, hay barns to store 30 semi loads of hay, maybe 100 acres of fenced paddocks. (I've never seen a horse in one).

Some guy from I think Michigan bought it when his daughter was at the teen horse-crazy age, sold it when she outgrew it. Just to visit a few times per year.

Here's a link to some affordable shacks along the sunset coast...

Radio. It's somewhat out of fashion given the choices today, but I still appreciate various aspects of 1 and 2 way radio....

BBC - Worklife - The lifelong exercise that keeps Japan moving

Given what was accomplished by 15 minute radio broadcasts, before my father was born........... we should all be Supermen (that would be SuperGenderAgnosticPeople today ....) given the amount of tech we are swimming in now !

A lot of years ago, I stopped by the Porsche dealership on my commute home, one rainy grey mid-Fall evening.

My wife had pointed out an article in a local paper, about a 959 in the showroom.

Dead quiet night, I walked in with my 35mm slr, and politely asked if I could take pictures. Answer was Yes, so I did so while never once touching the car.

Got the story...... a guy from England brought his family over for holiday, and wanted something to do while he was here, so he aired over his 959, so he could go play at Mosport.

Car ended up at the long-established dealer because the clutch wouldn't engage once off the trailer at the track. NOBODY outside of Germany was allowed to touch those cars at the time, so it took the very legit local dealer about 2 days to get permission from the factory to just remove the clutch inspection plate.

All that had happened was that the 959 sat so much in storage, that the linkage was binding...... Permission to Lube from Stuttgart...... all better.....

I drove away thinking "For that guy, that was about the same as me taking a beach-ball with me on holiday....".

Getting slightly back on track........ IIRC, Sam Walton's fav vehicle was an old Chevy PU...... (meaning later in his life......)
