I've got an old air compresser where the pump blew up on me (literally... then again, perhaps I had something to do with it /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif)

none the less... here it is. Other than the fittings that I've removed, it is fine.

How/where do you get rid of these?

Those of you who suggest me adding it to my new compresser for added volume... take it up with my wife /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Now that you know where I'm coming from, where do you take these to dispose of? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif (she won that argument hands down )

If there is anyone that WANTS this thing, I'll give it to you, or send it to you (postage paid by you). No other strings attached.

I'm cleaning some things out and it's gotta go. I'm not comfortable just flipping it into the dumpster, not to mention I don't care to LIFT it to dump it into the dumpster.

Any ideas?

Richard, Try this, put it out front providing you live in a well traveled area and put a sign on it "Take it free today or it goes in the trash on Xday" or like my parents did they put it out by the curb with a sign saying $5.00 drop your money in the mail box and take it its yours. It was an old water softener they came out and an older guy was loading it into the trunk of his late model mercedes he even gave them the $5.00 he said he was going to take it to his ranch to try it if he could fix it.

With a torch and welder, someone could turn that into a nice little woodstove. It's even got a place to set a kettle of water. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

lol, well, I LOVE the idea, but I'm the LAST house on a dead end road, nearest neighbors 1/2 mile away and probably only 15 houses within a 2 mile arc.

Thanks for idea, but I'm afraid it's going to be either haul it off somewhere or haul if off somewhere. I think it probably has SOME use for someone who's crafty (and has either no spouse, or one who's more flexible than mine /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

I hate to see it junked if someone has some use for it but for MY uses, it has just been garage clutter...

Hmm..

HEY JUNKMANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

My eyes may deceive me , but wouldn't it make a good air tank for someone on the farm ?

Probably better than some of the cheapies You see offered at stores .

My (unbiased of course /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif) opinion is that it would be fantastic for anyoneeeeeeeee..... and i'm sticking to that story!

ok, that said, I blew up the compresser part of the motor so I tossed it. The electric motor works fine, but it has a shroud as I recall, that's integrated into the actual air pump. This shroud also (I think) helps bolt the motor to the tank and is cracked/toast.

The shroud blew up (literally, pieces in the air) when I had my little faux pax.

It was suggested to me to use the tank as a second tank to gain volume. I put new fittings on it to that end and franky, the wife says "it's gotta go".

So, this morning I took those fittings off and am prepared to just go junk it.

I thought I'd make mention here first in the offchance that someone might care to have it and either by luck, be closeby (ya right) or not mind paying shipping for it.

My guess is, to replace the motor / air compresser it would cost enough to warrant buying a new one. Which is exactly what I did. (though I bought an oiled version, verses oilless)

Surely someone has their eye on it and doesn't mind driving to Knoxville from Phoenix?
