Kubota L275
Googled for an hour and I still couldn't find this info. Below is a pic of what I think is a Cross SA22 double spool valve that came bolted on my new-to-me Kubota L275. Number on the bottom of the valve looks like 4Z0062. Its a mid eighties tractor and the valve was put on to lift the front mounted snowblower. Since one spool is unused I thought I'd maybe add a small hydraulic motor to rotate the chute. I've been learning a lot on this forum (big thanks!) and surfing around but danged if I can figure out what's what with the two different sized appendages extending from the rear of the valve (silver tubes - one long, one shorter left side of valve in pic). Nearest I can find Googling is that they (or one) is a load check valve.

My questions - what are these doohickies and will the unused spool run a motor in a tractor with 6.2gpm @1900psi?

Thanks in advance.

The "things" on the rear is where the spool slides in and out-called a spool cap, most all valves have them. The longer one is longer because it has the float detent in it to allow your blower to "float" across the ground with no pressure in either lines.

Clear as mud?;)

Oh, and the other spool will operate your motor just fine.

Spool caps? Ermm? Okay. So if I had to do a rebuild I presume this is how I would access the rods.

But... I don't have a float detent so if it should be there, would that maybe indicate someone pulled this valve out of the trash pile and bodged in some parts to make one spool work?

Judging by some of the hack welding and abominable quality "repairs" inflicted on this tractor prior to its "new life", I wouldn't be surprised.

(On the no detent - seemed strange to me with the blower but the blower to frame attachment pins have a mechanical float built in to the bracketry.)

They are not called "rods", but rather "spools"-hence the term "spool valve" and yes, spool caps. If you take cap and handle off, the spool will slide out.

Are you sure there is no float on that spool? Pull the cap and see if there is retainer balls and springs in there (Be careful) They may be just rusted so you think there is no detent-that is a common problem.
