Attached is a parts breakdown of the Bachtold brush mower, model 800. I replaced the belt for the blade this past weekend - it is a 'B64' - 67"

Chief, I have one sitting out in my shop. I'll check on the standard belt pn I'm running. I went through a couple getting the right one.

Grab your wife's cloth measuring tape and set it flat where the belt would run. That and the width would get you a belt at an auto parts or garden center.

I acquired an old brush mower that runs great but there are no model numbers or spec stickers. The blade belt is missing and I have no idea what the replacement belt should be. I have no manual for the machine either. It looks very little like the new DR mowers other than general features. Does anyone have some thoughts on how I should proceed. This appears to be a 12-15 year old machine or maybe more. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I hope you got your questions answered, I came across this thread while researching the old Bachtold mowers. Seems as though all the modern mowers like DR and the others are so different than what the Bachtold offered. I have found the power dog brush mower which seems to be similar but I want to try one out before I buy one.

Does the Bachtold mow really well for you? Does anyone know of any products that are comparable to the old bachtold's? for that matter, I am looking for a comparable mower to the old ROOF mowers as well...

Great minds travel in tight threads. Found this one by accident as well. I, as well have an old DR Brush Mower made by Bachtold. It is a 1997 vintage and is as depicted in the recall photo. I am told by Country Home Products that Bachtild is no longer in business. Recently the rubber tires have split and fallen off the spoked wheels. Country Home Products says the tires are no made. I have a perfectly good mower, but without tires, pretty worthless. Anyone have any suggestions as to a work-around or replacement for the rubber tires?

This was discussed on a previous thread about a year or so ago. Northern Tool sells a wheel that works perfectly (The tread, not the whole wheel). I installed two on my 1996 DR and they have performed very well for a year. You remove the tread from the Northern wheel and install the tread on your DR rim. This is really fairly easy. I did not have to heat the rubber to remove from the Northern rim or install on the DR rim. You can discard the metal part of the Northern wheel. Actually, the complete Northern wheels are much cheaper than the replacement tread that Country Home Products used to sell.
