Mfrost.. nice job.. hey anything that helps so you don't slip and bust your.. you know. The NH boomers have a similiar step.. but.. the step is not as deep as yours. I'm in the mud every morning feeding.. and have slipped multiple times.. saving myself pain only because I've had a good handhold when climbing up into the tractor. A step like yours would def. be an improvement.

One note. I wondered why on the NH boomer steps why the "supporting brackets" for the step are not that robust. The reason is.. if you snag a stump, large branch etc.. the step's "support brackets" will bend.. and not the operator's platform.

Thanks for the nice comment.

I was considering getting the step hung up on something so I raised it a little from where I wanted it. There are no stumps here in the desert and no rocks on my property either.;) The step is about 2 inches under the front drive shaft level so maybe I created a built in safety:rolleyes: Just have to watch where I a going,

Hmmmm, that looks like a great Christmas gift for the FIL.
Thanks for the idea!

Now all you need is a license plate light mounted under top step to illuminate bottom step and you'll be the envy of the tractor world.

Great idea:eek: Could hook it to headlights. It will have to wait until I get the horn on it so I can get the wife's attention easier:eek: :D

There's nothing "old fart-ish" about it.

Lots of rigs out there could use an extra step.

Sometimes the cost-analysis guys/gals in the glass buildings find an extra foot step an unecessary luxury.....;)

The expanded steel is also a good idea since you can, when needed clean the mud off your boots before getting on the tractor and it will fall through the step.

I like the idea not only for convenience but also for what you said Mike. It would be much easier and safer to work the clutch without all the mud on the deck. I will look at my tractor to see if there are other places an "Old guy step" can be mounted. Such as on the side frame in order to work on the engine or such? Good idea as my tractor is pretty big.

I see some of the loaders have a step or one rung ladder mounted to heavy cable, instead of a ridgid frame so it will swing when hit, but might not be as stable as the old guy step. [ I could qualify for one of these at my age!] plowking

My TC 55 DA came with one step. The first order of business after the grill guard was to make a second step for the right side. I wonder... do they feel it is always convienent getting on from the left side ? Anything that lists for almost 40k should have this feature as standard equipment.
