I just bought a hay wagon and had a very old set of running gear thrown in.

It looks very heavy with 9 bolt wheels.

It is missing one of the wheels and I have no idea how to track one down.

Any thoughts?:(

You were right - 8 lugs wheels. Sorry for the mistake.

I would like to make this useable. Any ideas on make, model, etc... and where I can get a rim and any other parts it may need.

Thanks

I'm not sure how "pretty" you want your end result to be, but if can't find another rim you can always weld another rim/wheel to the hub thats on the gear now....just make sure the tires are about the same height...(an old farmer's trick..). What size rims are on the other three hubs? BobG in VA

Edit: Just noted in your picture that they are 16 inch rims....check out old chevy or ford 3/4 ton pickup wheels...as they are also 16 inch...

Take one of the rims off, go to any tractor/implement dealer, tell them what you need, they will measure the hole and spacings on your rim you took off (and hopefully brought with you), check their catalog, point to the rim you need, tell you the price (most likely over $50) and when it will arrive, you hand them the money and go home happy knowing your gear is closer to being mobile.

Do you know who made that trailer? I have one just like it only mine has spoke wheels. I have a hay trailer that had mismatched wheels and I went to a scrap metal dealer that has mostly farm scrap and he had a hugh pile of wheels and we found one that was perfect for 20 dollars. big dan

I was given a wagon just like that several years ago. The wheel bearing in one wheel had destroyed itself several years before and the farmer who gave it to me had one made out of a large brass billet. When one went bad on me I chesked the price of brass and decided to try Delrin. I had it machined to match the brass bearing and it has worked great for the last 12 years.

I'd check the bearings on the running gear before you put much weight onn the wagon.

Thanks for all the help!

I don't know what make it is, there are not tags or identification that I have seen thus far. From looking at various pictures it looks like it might be a Colbey.

that was going to be my suggestion. the wheels on my 85 C30 chevy "dump" truck are 16" 8 bolt rims. my suggestion would be to look to see of some old chevy wheels will fit. (rims off a 1 ton)
