Eddie, just curious, is your pic of you on a hovercraft of some sort?At least thats what it looks like to me, and I cant get it bigger to tell.

When you shop for a nailer make sure repairs and fasteners are available locally. Gun weight is also important. Those things get real heavy after a few hours.

I think this is very important as a little dirt in the air line can hurt the o-rings inside. Check with local lumber yards as to the different models available. I know Bostitch makes framing guns with different levels of power.

HMM Guess I may have asked a bad question here. Ill have to have my kids look at the pic, as their eyes are better. Hope I didn't cause any troubles.

I now see what it is, after I tried to put the pic into paint and blow it up. Its a HOG. But still looks like he is hovering.

Well what I would do is cut a couple pieces of my oak up and bring it with me to the sotre. Then i would have them demo thier guns on my oak and choose a model that gave me the best over all for the best price. you should see what i haul into lumber stores and ahrdware stores. :) I jsut drag part of my project it in there, and that way i get exactly what I need.

O.K... I understand how hard it is to drive a nail in an old piece of oak.

Nonetheless, I have a lot of it on hand, and would love to biuld a shop out of it. I have the time, but very limited resources, so this is something I really want to do.

If I have to, I can pre-drill, and hand nail. BUT, I'd rather look into an air nailer investment. Do they make nailers that would drive through 2X oak wood?

If the answer is yes, any specific nailers to look for?

Don't laugh at my project... it's the best this poor man can do right now. :)
A site called Sawmillcreek has a classified section where wood is sold all the time as well as wood working equipment. Figure out how much oak you have, type of oak, age, size, board feet and how much you want for it. You can also ask the folks there for an idea of what it is worth. You will have to join the site.

I bet they make a big gut pile!

It does look odd to my Northern eyes, there should be snow on the ground when there is a dead critter in front of you!
