Probably so, but they like to play on it. If you mound it up they play on it and scatter it down again. Kind of like goats playing "king of the hill" or something.
I had a nice, neat pile of levtover sand from my pool project out at the edge of the woods. One day I went out there and it was half its height and twice the diameter! What the heck happened??? Inspection revealed tiny dog tracks. Kept an eye on it. Then one morning I saw 4 fox kits playing king of the hill on the sand pile. I wouldn't have thought 4 tiny pups could move that much sand that quickly, but there it was. Fun to watch.
Yeah it doesn't seem to matter what I want, they spread it around and flatten it out to suit themselves. But I have a tractor, and I can mound it back up in seconds
I haven't seen a deer around here in almost a year. Coyotes have definitely thinned them out. I used to see them all the time. Perhaps, I should buy a few bags of mulch , in hopes of attracting them?
