Old "spot" has taken over my mulch pile

James, I'd bet there is enough composting going on in that pile that by digging down a little at night, they find a comfy warm spot to lay in. During the daytime, they spread mulch around and it's probably cooler than the outside air. Like kids drawn to a leaf pile or straw pile, critters like piles of stuff too.

I haven't seen a deer around here in almost a year. Coyotes have definitely thinned them out. I used to see them all the time. Perhaps, I should buy a few bags of mulch , in hopes of attracting them?:)

Same here. At this time of year we would normally see 7-9 does around the house but this has declined to five and now two. The wifey has been seeing two does, but until this weekend, I have only seen one. Oddly, two bucks were butting heads over the weekend in the wee hours of the morning. The windows were open and they were fighting right next to the house so the woke up the wifey but not me!:laughing::laughing::laughing:

I saw two fawns a 1/2 mile from the house last week. I dont' remember seeing any up around the house this year.

Later,
Dan

Don't forget the universal appeal of "rolling in the hay." :cool2:

I guess, a couple of mornings ago the wife said there were 6 of them on the pile. I didn't see it. Tonite I was fueling up the tractor down by the barn, and I saw one right up next to the house by the flower bed, and I hollered up at it "what in he!! are you doing?".. It just looked at me, so I started to walk toward it and it ran off.
