Gotta love folks using the wrong tool for the job. In this case a lawn tractor to handle what you probably needed a bush hog or the finish mower behind the diesel powered tractor. Atleast to knock it down to where his lawn fawn could manage it. Oh well, guess they get to learn the hard way, via their pocketbook.

It's was New neighbor that moved into the property next door. New to him 8n and a bush hog! 1 acre lot total and he was in the back Yard. 1/2 acre maybe. He fired that baby and hit like a sears craftsman. That only lasted about few seconds when he went to stop it Yup!! no overrun clutch. Only a couple of my small trees But I about fell off the porch laughing. When he finally shut it down it was so bad I had walk over and tell him he has a problem. Been yrs. and that 8n still sits there to the day unused. I have never seen a set of eyes get so wide open in my life

PTO and rear axle turn together regardless of pressing the clutch?

So without an over-run clutch,
yanking the PTO lever (or locking the brakes) are the only way to escape disaster with a high-inertia implement?

My little trees or his shed they put a few feet away from the line. Didn't show any sign of slowing down for Nothing until he pulled the throttle back. Pretty sure no working Brakes!!! Did he
SHP. yup!. Bet money on it!!

Not having live pto, combined with no overruning clutch will make some butt pucker moments if you need to stop quick. Seen that happen myself. Scared the crap out of the guy. Told him how to fix that and he was off to TSC and he was good to go

Love my little Yanmar with PowerShift. Overrun clutch in the PTO. Also the mower can be spun up while standing, then clutchless shift from neutral to 1 to start moving.

When I bought the YM2000 and was picking it up the dealer handed me this old one. He explained to me why I may need it. It's old and big but no problems with it or the PTO.. Seen Grease fittings so just Reg. Maint..

You can see it and some of the older Pto Dr. shafts I hd to shorten or remove it. The RS1400 found that problem out for me. Easier to shorten the shaft that remove the Overrun clutch. Ended up better at removing it but after finding another backup shaft I cut it!! I remove the grease fittings from dirt and damage on it. You can see the plug and leave them out.

Don't know where you live but if anywhere near TN. This is a nice little tractor for that money. I'd be going to look at it if it wasn't so far away.
