Older universal (?) Curtis Cab

  1. Sold
Hard top and glass front, soft sides and back.

This came with my father's 1975 Ford 4500 which we've already sold. It has brackets for the cab to set into, which bolt onto each rear fender; it then straps onto the hood. Soft side and rear covers seem to be in good shape except the cloth sleeve which goes over the loader controls was chewed by mice. The back piece isn't original because at one time it was blown out. Presumably the wiper works but I haven't had a chance to check it. Other than that I don't know much about it.
It could use cleaning and paint but has been stored inside for most of it's life. He used to put it on in winter for plowing, and take it off in spring. The cab stands about 27” in back and 29” in front above the mounts. I didn’t think to get length and width.
The cab is located in Auburn ME. $500

I don't expect to sell this here but it doesn't cost anything to try. In a couple of weeks I'll be listing it in our local buy-sell-swap guide. (AKA Uncle Henry's)

Thank you.

WOW. Wish this was out my way. :)

Does the wiper work? Is it hand powered or a small motor?

What is the measurement of the roof front to back? This way, others would know it it would work from SCUT to CUT machines.

And yes, keep it unpainted for the buyer. They can color match it to their machine. ;)

I didn’t think to measure the dimensions. The wiper has an electric motor. It’s 200 miles away at my mother’s house so it will be a couple of weeks before I see it again.
Good point about paint, plus I always like to see what a used item looks like before things were hidden with paint. Washing the windshield would have made it much more presentable though...

My late father bought the exact same cab back in the mid seventies for the International which I inherited and still use regularly. I'll measure that roof dimension for you tomorrow.
Along with the roof and windshield I just use the right hand side plastic panel as I found the left-hand one restricted my movement on to and off of the tractor and the rear panel blocks access to my manually controlled chute of the snowblower. Just having the front and right side in place protects me from the wind and blowing snow when I'm operating the snowblower. I guess exposure to light during all these decades has clouded up my plastic "window" so, Mr. Jstpssing, if you can't sell the whole works, please don't throw out the right-hand plastic panel. I would buy it. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow too. It was quite a surprise to see one of these old things for sale!

I measured the roof to be pretty close to 4 feet long and 3 feet wide. The front window on mine is badly cracked but most of the cracks are below my field of vision. I'll include a photo of the cable attachment to hold down the front of the cab. The serial number of mine is 26755.

Thanks. I'm not sure if they were all the same size or not, but yours certainly looks the same. I know that my father bought one along with a front mounted blower for his first Kubota, but didn't keep them. We're just trying to clean the place up, getting ready for when my mother can't stay there anymore.

If I didn't have a canopy I would consider keeping and using it myself.
