Older vehicles, switch from Dino to Synth?

Just discovered an big oil puddle on the floor of the garage this morning while the wife was gone to the gym. Had noticed a tiny bit of oil on the pan when I changed to Mobil 1. Had been no "diesel turds" on the floor or anything for about 3 to 4 months since the change. Think this is not due to the change but maybe a seal finally just gave out. Car has almost 190k miles on it and is 22 years old.

Even the power steering pump had started slinging oil again. Noticed this on Tuesday when I washed underneath there. The old gal is showing her age. We were driving only it during this last snow mess to avoid messing up the other cars.

Will let you know.

Dummy me put the oil filler cap on crooked. The oil was coming from it.

Sprayed the mess with Purple Power. Have to wait until the weather warms enough to turn on the outside faucet, possibly tomorrow afternoon.

Think I'll swap out the power steering fluid for the Valvoline synthetic stuff like I put in for the VW Cabrio and Toyota Tacoma in their power steering.

Clay cat litter works great for soaking up spilled oil. You can even grind it in with your boots to get a bit more. Doesn't get rid of all the stain but gets rid of most of it. Never tried power purple. Does it get the stain out?

Carb cleaner and paper towel worked well to get the oil up, but it still leaves a stain in the concrete.

Sprayed Purple Power on the engine and transmission.

Used a garden sprayer filled with hot water and little liquid Tide and sprayed on the engine and transmission and underneath. Got most of it. Tiny drips from the excess are still showing up. Hasn't warmed up enough to use the water hose yet.

Do enough work that the oil stains run together and it is all the same shade? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Your local auto parts store should have "absorbit" think I spelled it right. Anyway, it's ground walnut shells, put some on the stain, grind it in with your shoe or boot, stain gone. Had a garage business in southern cal for years, bare concrete, painted it later, but folks would come in ask if was a garage because it was clean.
