OMG huge chickens from china

We try to shop at walmart as little as posssible but my wife needed mousetraps today (and all the stores that used to sell mousetraps have been driven out of business by walmart). While there there she bought chicken breasts. When we opened up the pack they were absolutely the biggest chicken breasts I have ever seen. That caused me to realize that the chinese have now learned to grow the biggest chickens ever. I am also sure that they have managed to incorporate lead into the process because they could not have used it all up in children's toys.

Hate to bust your Chinese bubble, but I betcha those chickens were grown in NW Arkansas and SW Missouri and packed by Tysons near Fayeteville Arkansas. Wall Mart HQ is in Bentonville Ar. right next door.

If you have driven through NW Arkansas you can see all of the chicken ranches and the Tyson signs. I am sure alot of Walmart chicken comes from right there!

Wal-Mart calls these jumbo chicken breasts. I doubt that there is enough profit margin in a chicken breast to justify shipping them all the way from China. These jumbo chicken breasts are quite tasty when smoked.

I wonder where all the chickens in the west are grown. I grew up just outside of Sacramento. In our little town, My Grandfather had a chicken ranch, a family friend, and another that I did not know. And then, a couple miles away, was a good size turkey ranch. 20 miles away, was another turkey ranch. All are gone... My Grandfather retired, and neither my Dad nor Uncle wanted to be a chicken rancher, so he shut down(the ranch was in need of upgrades too).

They are all gone. None of the little guys left around here. Even the big corporate ranches are not in this area.

Tyson grows chickens nationally and internationally.....


The different Tyson chicken products in your grocery store likely came from different areas...... different live production areas serve different plants and different plants make different products for different markets.
