Do you think there is an office somewhere where people try to imagine what the terrorists will get up to next? Why do they release it to the press? Why are the wheels in Washington preparing us for the next attack as if there is no possibility of stopping it.

Yes, I do...in fact there are likely many intelligence agencies that run through and debate various scenarios on where the next terrorist act may hit. Following below is from the most current home page of <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.debka.com>http://www.debka.com</A> While this deals with countries on a macro level, note the last part regarding games that the US Naval War College goes through.

There's certain 'news' that is released to the press, others not. Warnings of a catastrophic nature are issued because it's likely the powers that be know something is inevitable....they just don't know the whens and the wheres of it. Often news is released repeatedly through the public media to 'soften' up mass public psyche and mindset. It's almost like them saying. "See, didn't I tell you something like this would happen."

If you ask me if something like what Israel is going through on an everyday basis can go on in this country...I say yes, most definitely. It's a matter of time before it starts simply because we are a country that has so many freedoms and we grant it liberally. Terrorists know of it and they will take advantage of it.

I'm not sure if debka is really a good source but I don't think
they are off the mark about Pakistan and India popping off
a few nukes.

Course this stuff has been talked about for years in many circles
and the Gov'ment runs these sorts of war games all the time and
for a long time.

I saw a "man on the street" interview a few weeks ago. Not sure
how valid these "interviews" really are but the people they where
talking with, some who had at least an inkling of an education,
did not have a CLUE has to what a nuke would do to their cities.

Not a Clue. If that ignorance is widespread in the military and
government circles on both sides then millions will die. The US
sent over some people to talk to both sides about what would
happen if a single nuke was set off on one city in Pakistan and
Indian. Seems like things have been pulled back a bit since then.

Its this same sort of Ignorance about the US, The West, and
technology that has led the Binni Baby Laden and his minions
down the path we are now on.

I don't believe the US will go through what Israel is going
through. The reason is shear numbers. We would have to
have mass murders just like September 11th a couple of times
a week to match what is going on in Israel. Israel only has
a Jewish population that is just over 5 million with another
million or so Palestinians.

For all of the US's condemnations over some of Israel's actions,
if the same mass murders where happening in the US a couple
times a week I think our response would be just like Israels. On
the other hand I think it is going to be tough to have the wave
of mass murder attacks in the US like the Israelis have endured.
We don't have a large population of people who hate us. Thats
not to say we won't have attacks I just don't see the wave of
mass murders happening a couple times a week every week.

But time will tell.....

Thanks for your thoughts....you raise some good points.

Debka is an alternative news website. They're based in Jerusalem and apparantly from what I've found out get alot of their information from current and retired IDF military personnel. Whether true or not, I don't know. I've followed them for some time and they have been way off on some things and pretty close on other forecasts. I'm intrigued though by their alternative way of news analysis that I don't see in the mainstream press.

Regarding your points on terorism in this country. You're right...we're not going to see 1 or 2 suicide attacks day after day. We don't have a resident enemy force on our borders infiltrating on a daily basis. But, we unlike the Israelis are soft. We're not battle hardened as they have become. I just wonder how the American people will cope even if there are 1 or 2 devastating acts of terrorism a month. My thinking....plenty of fear and trepidation which may adversely affect the economy, travel, tourism, Wall Street, etc.

I read recently that a high ranking Saudi cleric added Hindus to the long list of groups that Muslims are supposed to destroy. Historically, when a group wants to conquer the world it will fail. From ****** to Dr. Evil ..... good will prevail!

I agree with good ultimately winning over evil. But, unfortunately, as events on the India/Pakistan border unfold several million of this planet's inhabitants may have to go first. This is so sad when people can't just accept each other for what they are. God has created us all equally, loves us all equally, and shows no impartiality. I wonder what this world would be like if all people did the same.

Pakistan & India will battle it out in the near future. I can't understand wars fought over the premise of religion or ethnicity. The world is full of idiots. I would assume that is why the US has had it so good for so long. Had we spent our energy over the crap these third world countries fought over we too would be a third world country. I agree....lots of innocents will be killed. I'm not a serious religious type but it does make you think about what's important.
