Where are you located, Klipper? Those trees look like California valley oaks.
Funny that you mention that - I'm in Keene, CA.
When I bought the property, a beat-up Deere L130 rider mower came with it. It did OK on the level parts, but the slopes overheated the transaxle in a hurry. I had a 30+ year old 21hp Mitsubishi 4wd tractor with a 4' brush hog, and used that to mow the slopes. Went to a 5' mower, and had problems with the tractor overheating. The wife had seen the value of having a tractor, but was scared by the tall, narrow antique we had, so she told me to go buy a new one. We ended up with a no-frills 34hp Kioti gear model, and I added a 68" flail mower to the rotary. This allowed us to really clean up the 5 acres we have, but a couple of the slopes have too many trees and boulders to mow with the tractor. My wife used the rider mower, but managed to break it every time she used it, so she spent hours with a string trimmer getting it the way she wanted.
This lead us to replace the Deere. Thanks to TBN, we chose the Husqvarna GT48DXLS. It has a manually locking differential, and climbs like a mountain goat. We both enjoy operating it, and she is so light she can drive it anywhere. She can't handle the heavy clutch on the Kioti.
Because we've cleared out the majority of the property, the rider mower gets the majority of the mowing done. The tractor gets tractor work. I wish I'd bought the grapple when I bought the tractor - would have made cleanup a lot easier!
