One busy day baling

Had a classic 1/2 ton loaded up, it's name is Roy, I think Gary said they had 58 bales on it? Most I've ever had on a 1/2 ton was 92 or something like that but we piled on teh cab too!

My brother-in-law has the same baler. He has two, actually. How many bales do you usually do each year? I heard my brother-in-law say they did something like 14,000 and some change last year. Been really wet this year though, so it's been a struggle to get out there. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

This is my first year of baling. Been around it my whole life but never actually owned the equipment. I bought the 575 so that I would never have a problem baling hay in a short time frame. I put out about 9-10 bales a minute depending on the windrow. Overall I have baled up around 7000 bales so far. I lost a lot of hay due to an unscheduled rain storm that lasted 2 weeks. I have to start 2nd cutting at the farm and do up a couple other fields for round bales still. I will have about 9-10k bales thru this baler by the end of the year if the weather lets me.

My biggest problem right now is that my TN is a little undersized to take full advantage of the 575. I am hoping to get a TS-A this spring if the wallet allows. Maybe NH will have a deal where you can buy a new tractor and discbine and save a bunch of money. Might force my hand a bit /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Looks like you were having fun there. Those are some nice bales. I was having a lot of fun baling as the wind was 10-15mph and was doing a good job of blowing the chaff thru the station on the tractor during the long runs. Had no choice though as rain was forcasted and there was very little dew in the morning so we got started early.

I have heard (from sevreral) that New Holland has the best Big Tractor out there right now. i know some people who have traded in fairly new JDs for NH! Nice rig. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

They are all nice. I have a great NH dealer and am trying to stick with them but I also have a good Valtra dealer and you have no idea how much I would like to give their new C series a try (in blue of course). JD has nice tractors but are out of my way where as the NH and Valtra dealers I drive by everyday and stop and visit with on a regular basis.

Ok, I feel better now! The best I've done with the JD336 is a bale every 6 seconds but it makes terrible bales doing that, only like 5 flakes in the bale. Normally I get a bale every 10 s. Last night I got 215 bales in an 45 min.
