One great classic car..........

When I was 17 a friend of my Brother's bought this car new. He was 19. He paid just over $10K. A farm boy that had saved every dime he made. He went to town to buy a Corvette. Wearing overalls and a T shirt. Said the Vette dealer salesmen wouldn't even talk to him. Walked out of the Chevy dealership, across the street to the Ford dealership and bought this car.

He absolutely trashed it. I saw it wreck once on main street of our little town. It was way more car than Eddie could handle.

Anyway, a good friend of mine collects cars and several years ago tried to buy it from Eddie. It was in pieces at the time. Eddie wouldn't sell it to him and instead sold it to a collector in Kansas City. That man owned it for a few years and did nothing to restore it.

My friend contacted that collector and inquired about buying it? Was able to do so. Brought it home in pieces. As a part of his business's he owns a Speed Shop. They restored this car. It's a "match" car. Even has matching tires and battery from the era, just as it had when sold new. The stitching in the seats is even the right "count".

It's a marvel to look at. Brings back great memories for a lot of people in this community that knew the car when it was new. My friend hauls it to large car shows and on this occasion brought it out for a local Parade.

After he got it finished he talked to Eddie about coming and looking at it, even offered to let him drive it. Said Eddie would barely talk to him and acted mad that he had it. How sad. I told my friend if he ever found my '69 Mustang and restored it I'd be eternally grateful!!!

I have no idea of the value of this car. I'm sure it's not in my budget!!!!

Looks like history was made again with one of the all time great classic cars with one great movie to back it up, I hope the new owner completely restores this historic car.............

If it brought all that money its because someone wanted it in its original movie icon condition. Any restoration will probably just make it another mustang...

Was watching Lenno with his Turbine Driven Plymouth. Now that's classic.

Make me shake my head though as to what humans place value on.

Each one of us has a coveted possession that the rest of us puts no value on. We are hoarders.

In 1968 I bought a 1967 mustang fastback 2+2, 390 4 speed, stick shift. I paid $2700.00 It was a beautiful car, metallic lime gold. It was truly a dream car, and in today's market would fetch very high dollars.

At the time I bought it, we didn't know the wife was pregnant. However, as time progressed, along with her belly, it became increasingly difficult for her to drive the car. I had no choice but to sell it, and bought a 1969 Chevelle Malibu. Of the 17 vehicles I've owned, it is the only one I look back on and wonder where it is today.

I have had somewhere between 50-60 cars +\- over my lifetime.. The very first car I bought was a brand new 1986 Mustang GT. It was a red car with red interior, 5 speed, factory sunroof PW and A/C added by the dealer. At that time Mustang GTs were extremely hard to get and dealers never had any on the lot that were not already spoken for. I went to my local dealer and I was 3rd in line for the one I got. ..the first 2 buyers fell through for whatever reason. .I paid $12,300.00 plus taxes. I loved that car...wish I never sold it. I frequently check eBay to see if a nice one pops up. The other one I wish I kept was a 1996 Corvette Grand Sport. It was blue with a white stripe and a black interior. I just likes the paint scheme and the limited production of it. If it has a red interior I never would have sold it. The next time either a 86 Red GT pops up that is king or a 96 GS with red interior pops up...I'm buying them

A friend had one of those in HS, although I believe it was a '69. It was a nice, rust free car and in good shape for it's age... until the night he tried to make a record speed run to the beer store and only made it part way.

Graduation day in Orofine, Id HS. Rich guys son got a new 53 Chev top line convertible. Total miles on his first. and last. drive ? 3. Dumped it in the river.

I wouldn't call that a classic, rare? yes. A classic would be a car that was commonly available and seen on the streets.
