Today I had a little free time on my hands, so I decided to call around and check prices on the L3400 HST. I saw one the other day and thought the HST to be a rather nifty feature on this tractor. I’ve read plenty of posts concerning the advantages or disadvantages of this feature, but for me I think it would be something I’d like to have. However, I’ve yet to try one out, so I’ve a little more research to complete.
Anyway, as I called around, I was sure to inquire as to whether or not that particular dealer knew of the concern that many of you have towards the jerkiness sometimes experienced with this tractor’s 3-point lift. Surprisingly, though I called five different dealers, none had any idea as to what I was talking about. Several tried to blow it off as gossip circulated by disgruntled owners after I informed them on its legitimacy as expressed here on TBN. Only one seemed open minded enough to investigate. He actually pulled up this site while I was talking to him and checked it out. I called him back about an hour later and I was impressed that he had gotten with his service manager and put in a call to Kubota to find out additional information. GOOD FOR HIM!
I found it rather hard to believe that not one of these dealers have ever had a customer complain or even express the slightest concern for the lift on this tractor or any other in their lineup. This is what they claim even after stating that they’ve sold hundreds of tractors over the years. So what gives here?
· Are the tractor consumers here in Georgia less demanding than some of you guys?
· Am I being told the truth here? These dealers didn’t sound “sheepish”, as if they were trying to deny any knowledge they might have on this subject.
· Or is this a newly identified issue that I should expect few to be aware of it?
Additionally, I was appalled to find that not one of the dealers I talked to had ever heard of TBN. I would think that anyone in business today would investigate the Internet rather thoroughly. I know that there are several dealers who help out here with advice, so they must be the “cream of the crop” so to speak.
Fortunately, at least one listened. Who knows, he might even join us in the future.
