Today I had a little free time on my hands, so I decided to call around and check prices on the L3400 HST. I saw one the other day and thought the HST to be a rather nifty feature on this tractor. I’ve read plenty of posts concerning the advantages or disadvantages of this feature, but for me I think it would be something I’d like to have. However, I’ve yet to try one out, so I’ve a little more research to complete.

Anyway, as I called around, I was sure to inquire as to whether or not that particular dealer knew of the concern that many of you have towards the jerkiness sometimes experienced with this tractor’s 3-point lift. Surprisingly, though I called five different dealers, none had any idea as to what I was talking about. Several tried to blow it off as gossip circulated by disgruntled owners after I informed them on its legitimacy as expressed here on TBN. Only one seemed open minded enough to investigate. He actually pulled up this site while I was talking to him and checked it out. I called him back about an hour later and I was impressed that he had gotten with his service manager and put in a call to Kubota to find out additional information. GOOD FOR HIM!

I found it rather hard to believe that not one of these dealers have ever had a customer complain or even express the slightest concern for the lift on this tractor or any other in their lineup. This is what they claim even after stating that they’ve sold hundreds of tractors over the years. So what gives here?

· Are the tractor consumers here in Georgia less demanding than some of you guys?
· Am I being told the truth here? These dealers didn’t sound “sheepish”, as if they were trying to deny any knowledge they might have on this subject.
· Or is this a newly identified issue that I should expect few to be aware of it?

Additionally, I was appalled to find that not one of the dealers I talked to had ever heard of TBN. I would think that anyone in business today would investigate the Internet rather thoroughly. I know that there are several dealers who help out here with advice, so they must be the “cream of the crop” so to speak.

Fortunately, at least one listened. Who knows, he might even join us in the future.

I encountered that once on another website I frequent. I think it's a problem with the poster's server or something like that. In this case it seems to have something to do with the apostrophe and/or quote marks. He probably saw a normal looking screen and is as surprized as you to see it now. I'm sure he wasn't cussing at anyone.

Regarding the dealerships being present here on line, I'm not too surprized that most of them aren't. These guys are trying to work their existing customer base and attract new local business. I don't think too many of them are working at a place that has a large interest in trying to compete with dealers a couple of hundred miles away for the sale of a new unit. The transportation costs alone give the local guy an advantage, not to mention the general sentiment that it's better to buy locally to be sure of better treatment on warranty and service issues.

Boy did that give me a laugh. Apparently the apostrophe does not copy and then paste from a word document into the little posting box offered by TBN. It seems to be translated into a bunch of numbers. Next time I'll read over before I complete the post. I like typing up longer posts in Word, a little easier on the eyes. Sorry for the confusion. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

You make a good point. Though I'm still hard pressed to believe that they have never heard of the concern I spoke of.

I recently put a deposit down on a L3400 and while my dealer had not heard of the complaint before, as soon as I brought it up he said that he agreed that it was jerky on the lift while he demoed it to me - we both noticed it.

He asked me to send him a link to the threads and he's had his service manager checking into it with Kubota.

I've been pretty happy with their response. I expect them to get it sorted out before delivery. Hope they continue to be interested in solving my problems after delivery as well :)

HRS, have you tried Batton tractor in Douglas yet. I bought my tractor form them and I have nothing but good things to say about them. If you haven't talked to them call Vance the sales manager and he will be straight forward with you if you have a problem.

Canoe, it sounds like they probably will. I'm going to, hopefully, try one out this week. All this talk, I've got to see the action.
