In my experience, there are two locations to kill snakes. Around the house and in the woods.
My dad used to tell me that you never have snakes in a hog pen because hogs will eat them. We had a hogpen behind two ponds. I never saw a snake there even though there were lots of water moccasins in the ponds. Eddie, it's too bad there is not an easy way to put a snake around your feeder when the hogs are there to check that theory. . . or have a pet pig you take with you when you go for a walk in the woods.![]()
Jim, I believe that copperhead and his mate will be lying in wait for Don.
Don, like you, I've killed quite a few snakes with a garden hoe, but can't remember ever using the shovel.
