One of the sweetest sounds on Earth

One symptom of tinnitus is sensitivity to certain high frequencies. Back in the late '70s when "Solid State" TVs came out they emitted a high pitched squeal... I could tell when I went past somebody's house that they had their TV on.
One of my sisters won some sort of a school contest when she was a teenager, all the winners across the state were invited to a ceremony at a tv station. In the studio there was a high-pitched sound that I could barely tolerate even for the brief amount of time we were there. Oddly, no one else seemed to hear it, or if they did gave no reaction. I was only a teenager too, so it was way before any tinnitus had set in.

This is more of a feeling than a sound.
I needed a small engine flywheel puller right away and had to make one. When the puller worked and the flywheel popped loose, that, was another of the sweetest sounds on Earth.

I used to paraglide a lot. The harness you are hanging is kind of a but like a recliner, you're leaned back. During a flight my cell phone must have slipped out of my pocket into the harness. When I landed and stood up out of the harness it fell onto the ground. After not being able to find it anywhere I went back to the LZ and used my girlfreinds phone to call it. There is was in the middle of the field lighting up, thank goodness it was dark by that time.

My house guest looses her phone on a nearly daily basis and asks me to call it so she can find it. Mine rarely leaves my shirt pocket, except for use texting, calling and charging.
I used to keep my phone in my shirt pocket. After losing a work phone in a Porta potty, it goes in my back pocket now

Oaktree,
This might be why nobody else appeared to hear the noise.

There are said to be certain sounds only young people can hear. I listened for the sounds at the link provided and couldn't hear any of them. Try It: Can You Hear These Sounds Only Young People Hear?
I found the link and some similar ones by searching for "sounds only teenagers can hear".

I've been long retired. My cell phone - the ONLY phone here at the house - sits over in the writing desk. It is OFF. It is ALWAYS OFF - unless I want to make a call. I have limited reception out here in the boondocks.

I do check it - every so often - to see if somebody left a message worth returning.

I only take the cell phone with me, when leaving the house, if I'm expecting a call.

My cell phone is a tool - not a toy. I wonder if the earth would stop revolving if we went back to land lines only.

That reminded me of a canoe outing my wife and I took with friends a while back. The river is slow and shallow and loaded with inner tubers. I bet we heard "MY CELL PHONE!" 25 times in a few hours... people dropping them in the river.

At one of the deeper holes, about 5' deep, some woman in a group of about a dozen people was almost hysterical that she lost her phone. I said "Why don't you call it? Sound carries underwater very well. Call it and stick your head under water. If it's water resistant it should be OK still." They all looked at me with wide eyes. Then they tried it. We got about 50' downstream from them and heard someone yell at us "We got it! Thanks!" :)
