I am looking at the Clarksville, Tennessee area myself since I am retired from the US Army and we would like to be within 50 miles or so of a milirary installation so we can use our commissary/PX privledges.
I agree on the seasons but we call them snowmobile season and the two months of bad sledding.
Where abouts in the Frozen North are you?

Hmm, I just got back from vacation in Powell, TN (suburb of Knoxville) and told my wife that I could actually see us retiring in the vicinity. I'm going to have to go back down during a summer before I take the next step. It sure seemed nice though and I would actually have relatives (that I like/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif) nearby...

The heat down there can seem unbearable during the middle of the summer but it does not last near as long as the winter cold lasts up this way.
One other good thing about summer heat is you don't have to shovel it near as often as winter snow.
If it were not for the three and four-ninths Grandkids I would be gone now. All six of the kids have their own lives and a drivers license so they could visit if they wish.

I'm up in Wolverine. Just south of Indian River. We're at the upper edge of the snow belt. Gaylord being the bullseye.

Where is Clarksville? The reason I said northwest is based on a geological soil survey. We grow a market garden and sell at the Gaylord Farmers Market and I see no reason not to continue that when I pick up my southern drawl./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Clarksville is about 75 miles northwest of Nashville right on the KY/TN border. It is one of Fort Campbell, KY's Army towns.
I would not want to live in the town itself but rather within about 35 or 40 miles away in either KY or TN.
I live in Mancelona about 50 miles southwest of you and get to Gaylord quite often. In fact i just got back from TSC and was not overly impressed with their first day look.
