I have a 3320 and love it except for.... the cheesy adjustable side link on the three point. I was at the JD dealer today and saw they had changed the design to a beefier unit that looks easier to turn. My unit has the thin metal bat wing arrangement that is tough to turn when using my heavy back blade. It got me wondering if I could interchange it for the newer one. Of course in the parts catalog it is divided by the SN of the tractor. Anyone know if I sprung for one if it would work? I know, I should just spring for the tilt cylinder and be done with it but I would really like the top n tilt someday and this may tide me over until then.:D

I know what the upper link is, and I know what the lower links are. But what exacty is an "adjustable side link?"

The adjustable arm from the (usually) right lower link...

Mikey: You're working too hard. Set it high first, hook up the lower of the two links, then raise the 3pt. until you get the other one, same as hooking to stuff on uneven ground...if you're too high on the right it's easy to lower it...

Exactly my point, I am working too hard and want to make it easier. I have to make many adjustments on my back blade to crown my driveway and such and am searching for an easier answer without spending alot of moolah. I am hoping a better sidelink might be the answer.

Yes. I bent the threaded portion on my 4310. When I ordered a new one the whole assembly showed up, the new updated version. I was expecting a $56.00 bill but the new assembly was over $200.00. When I complained the dealer gave it to me at cost, arount $110.00. Apparently the old parts are not available. Anyway, it fits and is much sturdier and better built than the old one. The other side looks kind of pathetic in comparison.

Well, we both know the answer for your needs is the top n tilt, 3RRL did a great job on his himself. Short of that, you could make a lever arm that engaged the turning mechanism on the arm to make it easier to turn, 1/2 turn at a time. I would replace the right arm with a cylinder with DPOCV's and just be done with it...time is money, too...

Here's a link to 3RRL's build.

Turning it under load is what is hard.. specifically shortening it.

I usually relax my lift on the ground with a rockunder the adjustable side so that shortening it is easy, as the implement is not fully grounded at that point.
