Good evening,

What is a "one tooth ripper" for ?
Maybe it is not the exact name in english but I am sure you will understand what I am speaking about.
I mean this : Branson 4520R - Ripping - YouTube

Thanks for help and explanations.

What do you mean? A ripper is for 'ripping' hard ground.

AKA "subsoiler" or "mole plow"

Gentlemen, thank you for your answers.

I I summarize, this "one tooth ripper" or "subsoiler" is for uncompacting hard soil.
That's clear but.........

Why does it have one tooth only ?
With many teeth it would work faster !

I can understand a "10 teeth ripper" but a "one tooth ripper" sounds strange to me.
A little bit like a rotary tiller with only one tine !

A ripper or subsoiler with one shank can be pulled by a compact tractor and are great for gardens. More shanks or rippers and you will need a bigger tractor.

In the video linked in post one, you can see the tractor tires spin (at about 42 sec.) using the single shank subsoiler.

Also good for running wire.

The farmer that owns the land beside me has several shanks on his subsoiler. He can rip 3-4 feet down with his very large four wheel drive tractor. Size matters
