I guess anything, especially when I get to help my wife or a few of the neighbors. I like different things. I don't like doing the same thing all day. Such as brush hogging 3 acres that took me about 9 hours to do. Pretty rough land and very hilly and with lots of trees to go around. Kind of got boring.

Indydirtfarmer,

I had the greatest difficulty finding an answer to this simple question! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Then it finally registered! The answer is so clear now I don't know how I could not have seen it immediately!

ENOUGH! of your trick questions! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There are no chores related to tractors. All chores relate to not having a tractor to help one with his chores!

Obviously, there is no correct answer to your question... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Were you ever a psycology professor at Purdue University? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif I had one that would "question my answers" in much the same manner as you just did. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Running the backhoe!!!! For the most part it is one of the best stress relievers available (to me) and the feeling of acomplishment whether it's removing stumps or excavating. Bill C

I hate finish mowing but I don't mind hay mowing if things are working. Favorite so far is baling, followed by loader work, logging would be near the top too.

Not so keen on snowblowing, the 8 or 9 ft blower or whatever works well but I hate cranking around backwords and there is no sway lock on the 3 ph so the blower wanders side to side.

Cutting. Drivng over 2' tall grass and brush and seeing it disappear is very rewarding. Plus, the slight element of risk is nice---at any moment the shear bolt could blow, giving you the added opportunity to shave a few seconds off your best pit-stop time. And, what's best, you can make the cutting ops last as long as you want....

Mowing

I love pasture mowing but I really love finish mowing, mainly because it is less dusty, dirty and sweaty/filthy that pasture mowing. I love to grab a beverage, sit on the deck and look and admire my 4 hours work cutting the yard. It gives me a great deal of satisfaction. Same thing goes for pasture mowing once I get hosed off and cleaned up. The wife won't let me in the house otherwise.

Don't get me wrong, I like tilling, spraying, dragging logs and the rest, and I wouldn't swap my FEL for anything, but I just ... like ... to ... mow.

While I throughly enjoy using the loader, the backhoe, the brush hog, the finish mower, the grapple, tiller, 2-bottom plow, box-blade, and the disk are all a real plus for me.

But what I really enjoy more than any other implement is using the QA pallet forks coupled with the quick forward/backward motions possible with the HST for unloading semi's and moving inventory. Something about unloading big trucks easily with the help of the TC-40D and being able to set loaded pallets down and then pick them back up again really trips my trigger. I call it precision maneuvering, while my wife calls it horsing around.

I like to cultivate. I enjoy warm summer days out in the feild. A photo of my rig. If it works.

Back on the farm in Kentuck, I liked cultivating corn, I liked seeing the weeds in the rows dissapear and the rich brown dirt between the green rows show up, now I think mowing our rc flying field is best. Just kinda of a quiet time with the dandys flowing out the side chute. A guy can do a lot of contemplating while mowing long fields of grass. This year it will be diesel powered, life will be veeery good..JohnJ /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I guess, mine would have to be plowing also, there's a lot of satisfaction in turning the ground, and a nice neatly plowed field is a work of art. The sound of that old B huffing and puffing was music to my ears. Don't get no better than that.

I like plowing too. I guess the two best times in a farmer's life are in the spring, when he is anticipating a good crop year (have you ever known a farmer who, in late March or early April, didn't believe this year was going to be his best crop ever?), and in the fall, when he can see the results of his hard work. To me, all the jobs (cultivating, spraying, etc.) that come between the initial turning of the soil and harvesting of the crop are gratifying, but there are always some little concerns; will it rain on this hay I just laid on the ground? will this foot-tall corn I'm plowing get rain when it needs it? That said, I would have to put two jobs right up there with "breaking land": baling good, clean bermudagrass hay, and picking (combining) two-ton per acre peanuts. To hear that auto-wrap buzzer sound off about every 3 1/2 minutes, and spit out a 1000 bale, and to have to stop the tractor about 150 yards into the field so someone can pull a wagon to dump a load of "goobers" is my idea of a good time down on the farm.

That is one fine looking Oliver xx55. What model and how many rows? Stock engine? Oh, almost forgot. I like bush hogging.

Definitely the top of the list is watching the snow blow way up in the air, out into the woods and back down my neck /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
FEL work is great too, especially finally getting that stump out and skating it across the dirt with the front wheels driving and the back wheels just barely touching.

Without a doubt mine would be cutting hay. I love the smell of a freshly cut field of alfalfa or grass hay. It's very satisfying as well to get off the tractor and see a nice field of cut hay. Only thing better is getting it put up before it rains. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Boxblading; someone dug a short ditch on the property east of mine, dumping the spoil to make a levee parallel to the ditch. I finally went to county clerk, & after 2 weeks investigation got landowners name, then contacted him asking permission to knock down the levee to help the land to drain. Wife & landowner still shaking their heads, but I found me a new playground.

For oliver28472 It's a '73 2255, Stock Cat 3150, 16 row 30" rolling cultivator. Not a compact but I like it. My favorite job with a compact: Gradeing with the city's B7610 and pull type grader.

Mine would probably have to be mowing hay. To know that you have many days of hard labor following is a great thing. Needless to say I am one person that looks forward to hard manual labor. Most people I know hate working. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
