Yanmar made a bunch of Cub Cadets for MTD in the past decade. It would be interesting to see if those parts like filters, gaskets and normal wear items interchange. This way, anyplace you have an MTD parts store rack, you can pick them out for your machine. ;)

2016- to present. It's still in production. :)

With all of the part shortages out there he's looking at options other than just the dealer and Yanmar.

For filters you might check out this web site:
For the hydraulic with the red color I will purchase
from the dealer it might cost more but you can see
how much you have poured in already instead of
running it over and making a mess. Not sure but
think there is an adative to reduce friction that the
regular oil don't have???

His model takes the TF500A. So, any place that offers it or the John Deere J20C would work. Long as the jug states it meets the specs of either rather the words "compatible". Never use anything that says compatible, that's asking for trouble in the long run.

The Yanmar TF500 = J20B, then they updated to the A suffix to match the J20C. Mainly the improvements were for the seals in the hydraulic system more so than the friction modifiers.

Over in eastern EU, it's so hard to get either of these that people actually are using the Fiat/Chrysler synthetic ATF+4 with good results.

Overall the part supply chain is very weak. Global manufacturing is just a shell of what it once was pre-2020. Some people are buying EXTRA clutch plates, bearings, etc for their machines because it's not getting any better soon. Prices due to demand will make things in 2022 thru 2025 nearly impossible to maintain a machine. The New Norm is hear as a masked rest. (all pun intended too in a sad way)
