I have a NH tractor with any open center with two rear remotes. (boomer 35).

If I choose to run a log splitter, I planned on bungie tying the lever to get flow and use the valve on the splitter.

My question is will this setup cause an unnecessary heating of the fluid and damage my tractors pump? I read that it might, and I wanted to double check prior to buying the unit.

Thanks

I doubt it would damage the pump as the remote valve is just routing the flow to the log splitter valve.

You should run the tank line to tank and not back through the valve.

Your log splitter cycle time is related to pump GPM's, and that is determined by engine speed.

Thanks JJ for the response. Can you elaborate on this? What modifications would I need to do.

I always assumed that when running a 3pt splitter you just plugged it up to the remotes.

The reason is that back pressure from a valve downstream could damage the 500 psi tank line, so theoretically one should run the tank line directly to tank.

Most manufacturers suggest running tank lines to tank.

Some people do it and get away with it for a while and then you might hear something like, it work that way for two years, just don't know how or why it broke.
