Oy vey! The neo-Luddites are out in force. I'll bet we can file this with the "settled science" of "Anthropogenic Global Warming", oops, "Climate Change" once all the facts are in.

"Settled science" usually means: #1 define your objective and then #2 produce a pile of studies to support your objective...don't worry about proof, just fool with statistics if the facts don't support your desired answer. "Settled science" has become the "boy that cried wolf".

I think most of the food we eat today is a product of "fooling mother nature". That's how we produce enough food to feed billions of more people on less acreage.

"Biopiracy of indigenous knowledge;..." What are they going to do? Suck the knowledge out of peoples' heads and leave them clueless? This is ludicrous. But I bet it appeals to the many half-witted victims of the modern "education" system.

... is to downgrade the value of the report by concentrating on a few statements that were not well developed, and thereby draw attention from the actual warning indications presented more substantively later in the document.

Very scary. ... That document is 13 years old. Are their predictions and warnings being borne out? Its been long enuf to expect some indicatory changes that people paying close attention would see.

Scarier yet...try to google the organization behind it! Several pages in you will find references to some "for profit" pharma company.

Just my opinion but we all better worry about these new genetically modified crops...Wouldn't it be something if by introducing these crops we turned all crops of all species into non reproductive hybrids...???? Imagine that...No more foods ..period...Like something out of a Sci Fi movie...talk about unintended consequences...playing with nature and greed...does not sound like a good formula to me...:confused3:

Read it and really wasn't impressed. A lot of could be, what if, where is the hard data to back it up. I wasn't expecting much based on their stated objectives. I really doubt they are going to sway anyone in power without more hard facts and studies.

Exactly, if it's safe than label it! Let the consumer evaluate for themselves what they are eating. These Biotech companies are fighting labeling so hard because they know full well that if the majority of people KNEW what was actually in the food that they eat those same people would stop buying it! The more I learn about GMO's the scarier it gets! And the bigger my organic garden gets!

One could assume scientists are smarter than farmers. After reading this article I think that these scientists need to attend a meeting at a local Farm Bureau. For a reality check.
