I have owned a 335 for 5 years and never shut off PTO when ejecting bale. Manual says keep PTO speed at operational range when closing door so belts don't get pinched. Says nothing about shutting PTO off after tying and before opening rear door. My neighbor says I should shut off during that part of procedure. No damage last 5 years with no shut off of PTO. Any thoughts?

Tell neighbor to read your operators manual. I've never been around a JD 335 baler but I've owned JD 410,435,466 & two 467's and having baled way over 150,000 bales plus was employed by a JD dealer for over 21 yrs delivering/demonstrating JD rd balers and never turned off pto to eject a bale. In fact as one closes tailgate with pto operating it helps clean out loose material in the belts.

Thanks for the quick response. Baled yesterday with no issues. Had a roll pin break on my JD 14T though after 50 bales. On shaft going into clutch housing. Has been a problem. Any ideas?
