I have to dig through your photos, but did you completely disconnect the old Generator or is still acting as a fan?

No it still acts as a fan, you have to have it. When the belt has broken or jumped in the pasdt, it overheats quick.

That is what I thought.. Love watching your mods and seeing them in real world applications...

One idea I have is welding a piano hinge on the side oil plate.. Makng a quick release so you can get in and open it up and blow it out with out too much turning wrenches...

Ole Billy is always one to steal a great idea! One hinged access plate coming up! Also note the new much heavier alternator bracket, the old one kept breaking.

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!

How are you doing the latch on the other side?

I love it when someone steels my idea, heck I kinda took yours....

WLF's,
I just welded a "L" onto the existing bolt, so it can be removed and replaced by hand. Later, I'll apply plasti-dip to it.

Also, it seems that often cleaning (top and bottom) of the oil cooler makes more difference in the running temps, than anything else.

I switched to Amsoil synthetic, but that didn't change anything. Also I haven't found any ports on the engine to plumb another cooler into; so I need to find a oil filter donut adaptor to get my lines out.

Billy, out.

So Billy......

Did you move the lid keeper to the other side. This evening I was making my to do list as I am down for at least a day and putting in the hinge was my next step. But my lid keeper is in the way. I assume you swapped yours but wanted to check first.

Yes;
I had forgot that, it used to be on that side. I swapped it to the other side back when we did the alternator conversion, and modified the hood.

Some quick facts:

Specs on the oil filter is Deutz 0117 4416; crosses to WIX 7085; (a WIX 51348, same filter which fits 23 Kohler gas engines will also fit, the gasket is a bit different, but it will work); 3/4, 16 thread, 2.734 ID, 2.430 OD.
NAPA sells the adaptor to remote mount the oil filter (filter relocate kit) adapt ro engine, it plumbs to the remote filter mount...but heres the cool part. I an plumbing in an auxillary cooler to go in line on the oil line, in front of the filter.

Parts due in tomorrow, I have it scheduled in the shop Thursday, will report back with results.

Also, temps went up after the hinge mod, its losing just a little air in the crack it created at the hinge mount points, so I need to gasket it. We checked it with a heat reading gun, the engine itself is getting to 220 to 230; hydrauklics seem 160 to 180; the muffler is nearly 500 degrees! If the aux cooler doesn't fix we'll be removing the muffler and relocating it outside the engine compartment.
