nope..they r pretty tough as i watched the ground break loose during lunch..(the operator parked it jist a little too close to the edge /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif) doing hiline in w,va...and roll through about 1800' of woods down a VERY STEEP GRADE!!!..it smashed the heck out of the roll cage and throw one track but after a week of work replacing the cage and putting the track back on (with a 110 ton crane)..it was back at work... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif how i wish i had had my camera that week!!!!

Umm, my FIL broke a dozer removing stumps at my old place. It was a small rental dozer (don't even remember the make or size as this was about 8 years ago) that was brand new at the time. The rental company dropped it off and it had less than 2 hours on it. First thing he did was head for the biggest stump head on and rammed it. The stump didn't move /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif, so he backed it up and rammed it again. And again. And again, until a weld holding one of the hydraulic rams broke. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Luckily, the rental company took it s a manufactures defect, and didn't charge us for the repair. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Though it may of been a D9 /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif like he used to operate years before that.

Perhaps the FIL should learn how to operate equipment before he kills himself or someon else. Sounds like someone who could break an anvil with a rubber hammer. There is no excuse for ramming any thing with a tractor ever. He will think its cool to ram into trees until the top breaks out of one then comes down on top of him. A fool and his head are soon parted.

I agree with andy and egon.. but might add this.. Perhaps there need to be some bars welded across the op platform to keep the FIL -OFF- the tractor to protect both it and him.

This reminds me of a humorous story I heard in another forum.

A fellow with a ford N-series tractor was writing in about a few problems he was having with his tractor. First he stated that he had oil spurting out from a line behind the dash, and went on to say that he took the line off and used a mallet to smash it flat/shut.. and that seemed to stop the oil leak that was troubling him.. however the next time he started the tractor he noticed he had no oil pressure, and was asking what to do / check.

He got alot of answeres.. but here is the one I loved the best.:

Someone told him to take his ignition key.. and put it in the ignition switch.. then take his mallet and use it to break the key off in the ignition, and then go list the tractor in the paper for sale.. that we he couldn't possibly do it any more damage.

I about fell outta my chair on that one...

Once long ago in a land far away, we followed behing big ole olive drab dozer with a sickle shaped blade. Dunno what model, but you had to look way up there to see the operator grinning. It would actually slice 4" brush off flush with the ground, and push all but the biggest trees down. The operator would tilt the blade and shear some roots, then raise his blade up high and push the tree down. He made a pretty nice road that 4x4 and 6x6 trucks could run on in a very short time. I bet even the  Operator From Hell  would have trouble tearing up that beast.

I wish that you had a few pictures of that beast to post. I for one would really like to see that monster as it sounds interesting.
