Rocky
Would love to have a brown. The problem is I have no dealer close to me. I am sure sooner or later I am going to need parts. I have limited time when I am home and don't need be waiting on parts. I have lots of dealers of bush hog around. I looked at woods also several of the dealers Sell both here. I asked several of them which cutter they sell more parts for. Everyone of them said they sell a lot less replacement parts and almost never need to do warranty work for Bushhog.

You've sure got your wheels set in narrow if you can use a 6ft cutter without driving outside the cutter. Be careful about that if you have steep terrain. New tractors, unless otherwise specified by the buyer, are usually delivered in the narrow setting. Makes them plenty top heavy on inclines. Be careful out there.

I don't think anybody makes a 6' cutter that would be too much for the M7040.

My rotary mower is an 8' Land Pride that weights 1380 pounds. No problems, but I do leave on the front bucket or use a QA front weight mount.

As far as filling front tires, it is resoundingly NOT recommended. There are a variety of reasons that you can search for here on TBN. For one, it is he|| on the front suspension.

I'm hoping that was his "Look at my new toy" picture. :)

As to loading fronts, not sure why the manufacturers are against that. It wouldn't be because of being hard on "suspension" since the tractor doesn't have any, and the load is not carried by the tractor, only by the front tire.

Maybe they are concerned about the added traction it affords, putting undue stress on the front driveline??

For me, I figure my front tires got enough load on them when I'm doing FEL work without adding more. Removable weight suits me better. :)

All things equal a 3 pt 8 ft cutter weighing same weight is easier to pick up than a 6 or 7 ft cutter.

At least as easy. I've got a 6' and a 10' parked side by side in the machine shed. The distance from the 3pt pins to the rear wheel spindles is the same.

Yes, that photo was from a couple of years ago on the day it arrived. It looks "somewhat" differently now.

Concerning loaded front tires, I should not have used the word "suspension". A much better word would have been "components". Loading front tires can lead to failures like this. (L3650) The tires were not loaded, but the owner tried turning the tire that was stuck in a ditch so there was resistance to rotation.

Bigg Country, I have the M5040 with the same loader as you. Makes for a nice counterweight for a good sized brush hog. Mine is the Bush Hog 296. It weighs 1100 lbs and is an easy lift for the Kubota. Even with the 50 hp, I can mow some heavy briars and brush in fourth gear with the mower at PTO speed. Your M7040 will barely know that it's working.
