Mine did not have a hoe. That would make a diff. for sure.

Wooly, thanks for chiming in.

One more piece that didn't make sense to me was the limited production period noted above so I called Yanmar. The tractor I sold went through final QC at the factory on June 3, 2013 so it would seem that the assertion that my (former) tractor is at least 6 years old is patently false.

Looks like you did well selling it. I currently have an SC2450. Wonderful tractor. It is interesting to see the current prices. I kick around the idea of selling mine to get a bigger tractor. When I bought mine new from the dealer, I wanted to get the SC2400(?) model. I didn't really need the back hoe at the time so I thought it would be purchased later as the need came along. I was told the 2450 had to be purchased if I ever wanted the back hoe. Did yours have the back hoe? Like I said, it's a great tractor but wish it was slightly bigger.

screamin / blacktruck - the unit I sold did have the backhoe. I think the 2450 by default came with it, although when I looked at the invoice, it was itemized on there so maybe that model could be ordered without? One thing I told the people that were interested in it was that the tractor was kind of like a swiss army knife in that it will do a lot of tasks but it won't even come close to performing like a dedicated machine (mini ex / skid steer / etc.) but it sure beats a shovel and a wheelbarrow hands down.

Below is a picture of the main picture I used for the Craigslist ad. It shows the tractor and everything that went with it (mower, bagger, box blade, thumb, etc.)

Thanks for the clarification on this. I completely agree with your assessment of it. Mine has been great in every way. I considered getting the bagger as I do mow a few acres when I am at home. I've used the back hoe a few times and it works just as it should. You have to sort of tailor your tasks to the size of the tractor but it does work well. I used mine to dig most of the foundation for a room addition a few years ago and it was a labor saver to be sure. I still kick around getting a bigger tractor but cannot honestly say that I need one. I just work in smaller quantities to get the job done. Gotta say that when it comes to moving snow, it is a champion. Big enough to handle significant amounts and small enough to do sidewalks depending on the location. I have a 52" tiller for mine and it is the best I have ever used to prepare a garden. Once again, big enough to cover a lot of ground but small enough to get into the smaller gardens I till in the neighborhood. What was your opinion of the bagger? I am away on an assignment but still like the idea of having a bagger.

blacktruck

I think the bagger does a great job, though I think we used it to mow the lawn twice. It really does get the grass moving and I was able to to mow in wetter conditions than I am used to (comparing it to standard mower bagging setups that rely on the blades to create the airflow to move the grass). I recently bought my dad one of those AgriFab trailer type baggers with an engine powered blower - it works really well and I would say the Yanmar unit does as good of a job pulling the grass and, obviously, being PTO powered it doesn't need a secondary power source.

The only downside to the bagger, as noted by scoutcub, is it somewhat of a bear to mount (it has been a while, but I think it took somewhere between 10 and 20 minutes to mount, taking it off didn't take nearly as long). It's hard to describe the mounting without you seeing it, but it mounts using the lower three point arms and the top link, however the arms are disconnected from the lift and the back of the bars are raised to be inline with the end of the top link. Then there is a bar that goes from the bottom of the bagger to the tractor to keep it from rotating on the three point (since they are inline and not triangulated), and a bracket that goes from one of the three point bars to the tractor to keep the bagger from rolling to the side.

It is a kind of a wonky design (the only thing I didn't like about the tractor) and I had an idea to deal with it but never got around to fabricating. My idea was to build a different mount system for it using a bracket that would mimic the backhoe connection and position the bagger in the same spot that the standard hardware did. This would make it easy to swap from the backhoe to the bagger quickly so that when I wanted to mount the bagger, I would just have to lift the two lower ears onto the tractor, connect the PTO shaft, and then roll it forward and install the two upper pins. One thing is I hadn't figured out how to deal with the minor interference between the rock shaft and the backhoe pins...I guess now I don't have to...

One other thing that I can say, the 265 we have currently for mowing has a powerflow system on it and while that does a good job of bagging, it doesn't have anywhere near the volume of air moving that Yanmar one does. Since the powerflow does a pretty good job of bagging, maybe the amount of air pulled through the Yanmar unit is excessive, I don't know, but it certainly isn't lacking.

Just curios, maybe I missed it but what was the reason for the extra set of tires? Like so many others, all the years of using garden tractors with the turf tread, when I got the Cub I was happy to get the R-4 tires. They work well in every situation I have found. With a small farm the need to use it in the dirt comes up often so I wouldn't really want those but just wondering why you had them.

Well, the answer is simple, it wasn't that we particularly wanted both but when they offered to throw them in if we bought everything, we already wanted it all anyway so...
